VERY SHARP SURVIVOR W/ REPAINT & ONLY MILD MODS, 2.3L TURBO 4, 5 SPD MANUAL, A/C, FACTORY SUNROOF!

Rare and desirable, this 1986 Ford Mustang SVO is one of the most interesting and technologically advanced Mustangs ever produced. Ford's Special Vehicle Operation (SVO) department was created in 1981 to engineer and test performance parts for Ford Motor Company's racing programs. Rising gas prices and stiffening emissions regulations forced manufacturers to move toward smaller displacement engines with better fuel economy. SVO concentrated its efforts on the 2.3L "Lima" engine and the Fox-body Mustang.

By 1982, Ford had outfitted Mustangs with a turbocharged version of the 2.3L four-cylinder engine for racing applications. In an effort to create a race-ready production Mustang and showcase its parts and accessories, SVO launched the Mustang SVO in 1984. With 175hp, it was the most elite Mustang offered at the time. It also cost about $6,000 more than a Mustang GT, but was fitted with many new and innovative features not available on the GT.

By 1986, the last year of production for the Mustang SVO, power output was up to 200 hp. Standard features included a ram-air hood, bi-plane spoiler, dual exhaust, air conditioning, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fully tuned suspension with ... Please ask for the full description.

Finished attractively in Medium Canyon Red, this SVO has traveled less than 52,000 miles since new, remains in excellent condition and is equipped with an optional factory sunroof. The comfortable Charcoal and Gray cloth interior, is completely original with the exception of an upgraded Sony AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth playing through upgraded amps and speakers.

Under the hood, the 2.3-liter turbocharged engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission shifted through a factory Hurst shifter. Power and performance are enhanced with an auxiliary cooling fan, HKS Pro Flow air intake, under-hood manual turbo boost control, 3-inch stainless-steel exhaust system, free-flow catalytic converter and a Center Force Racing clutch and heavy-duty cable. Additional items included with the car are the original owner's manual, Koni shock adjustment tool and custom car cover.
