The 1970 Buick Rivera was a true star at General Motors. This was the only personal luxury E-body cruiser with rear-wheel drive, and this was the first year for the larger V8. It's this kind of distinction why this bright green hardtop remains desirable for far more than just its value price.
The second-gen Riviera was all about size, and in its final year, these really maximized it. The quad headlights were stretched to the edges, and there's a wide grille in-between that reaches out beyond the sheet metal. In the rear, the form-fitting bumper looks like an extension of the fender as it stretches well beyond the dual exhaust tips. So you can see this coupe wants to own the road. That's why it looks so good in the upgraded green. IT's a bold color that gets attention without being too outlandish. And the smooth finish fits with the Riviera's premium image. More of this upper-class style is in the nice-looking black vinyl top and overall fit of the body panels. Plus, there's a hint of sporty style with the Buick Rallye wheels.
And the badging on the fenders leads us to believe this is a real-deal Riviera GS. It was the most expensive Buick offered for 1970, and that makes it a rare sight today.
The black vinyl top on the outside is a preview of the full black interior. This has a very clean and well-preserved style. You see it in plenty of details, like the full wood-like trim, Buick logo floor mats, stock AM/FM radio that's there for display. And the courtesy lighting package still greets you when you open the door. There's room for plenty of family and friends. This is even a factory A/C car (the belt is off the compressor and it may need servicing.) Best of all, it upholds the personal luxury cars image with a driver-oriented setup that included font bucket seats and a full center console in-between.
This car is special because it's the debut year for Buick's mighty 455 cubic-inch V8. It became one of the ultimate motors of the era, and so it's nice to see what is believed to be the correct displacement motor still under the hood. This big block is topped with a four-barrel carburetor, and you can see newer items like the distributor and plug wires. So it moves this big Buick with the kind of power delivery that's equal parts muscle car and luxury coupe. The three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and with power steering, power brakes, and a comfy ride, this classic remains a fine cruiser.
This Buick is rare, sleek, large, and powerful. It makes for a terrific vintage cruiser, especially at this affordable price. Call today!!!
