#'S MATCHING 440 COMMANDO V8, AUTO TRANS, DUAL EXHAUST, ORIGINAL DOCS, COOL!!!

This 1968 Plymouth GTX is a very cool coupe to have because its numbers-matching 440 V8 is under the hood. So with this kind of history, it's great to have a presentation that makes the extra effort to keep looking so stock.

Take time to appreciate everything this GTX offers. The straight lines are especially critical on Mopar's iconic block B-body cars. Because while these were the midsize offering, the stylists knew how to give them the look of unflinching full-size authority. It's in the details, like the wide chrome bumpers, performance hood, and way the bodywork extends beyond the taillights. And there are the right details, too, like the dual side stripes and mag-style Mopar road wheels. The Blue Mist paint is the factory-correct color. It has been given a respray later in life, but it has aged in well to make sure it has the look that it could pass for stock or a survivor. So while you may opt to upgrade for a show-ready shine, you may first want to take a moment to really see how the full car is presented. There is an underlying theme here where it is highly original - even the odometer is believed to reflect the full actual mileage. So currently, the few areas of the car ...

So currently, the few areas of the car that have been updated (like the paint) try to make sure they fit in with all the other preserved factory original pieces of the car.

The factory-correct blue interior keeps the car's distinctive color style continuing inside. Part of the GTX's rarity is that it was at the premium end of Plymouth. Often people opted for the less expensive Road Runner or stepped into a Dodge. But this GTX shows exactly why it was right for a select few. The bucket front seats, center console, and wood-like trim are all true vintage premium. And you'll love all the classic details, from the working glovebox light to the AM radio with 8-track that's still there for display. The carpeting is plush, the dash is smooth, and it's overall very well preserved. In fact, the seat covers are the only update you may recognize, and they have been well-integrated with the correct stitching. And of course, this muscle car hardtop gives you a commanding driver's position with the three-spoke sports steering wheel and wide/full gauge package w/tach.

Power comes from the biggest engine in Chrysler's stable, the 440 cubic-inch big block. This V8 was part of what made the GTX the premium offering, and so it's terrific to have the numbers-matching motor still in the engine bay. And this one loves to show off its originality with a very honest presentation in the block and details (including the Super Commando air grabber.) But a car this special doesn't miss out on proper care. You see it in the fundamentals, like the newer alternator, distributor, plug wires, and more. Plus, the way this one fires up with gusto reaffirms its well-respected nature. The powerful V8 feeds its numbers-matching Torqueflite 727 three-speed automatic transmission on its way to the 3.23 Sure-Grip limited-slip rear end.

This is a special kind of Mopar, and so it also comes with good documentation, like the dealer invoice, owner's manual packet w/warranty info, previous owner info, and more. It makes for a rare muscle Mopar hardtop that really appreciates its pedigree. Call today!!!
