And as you dig into all the details on this restored 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie, you'll also discover a true street machine that includes an upgraded V8, a five-speed stick, and four-wheel disc brakes.
This is the debut year for the Galaxie name. It started as the Fairlane's top trim, and so it is a great classic that deserves respect and care. In fact, the story we're told in this one is that the original owner kept this car for nearly 40 years. And while having only two other owners since then makes for a great history on a cool classic, it's not the history that may be what first attracts you. The second owner gave it a frame-off restoration in 2011, and we're told it has only been driven about 750 miles since then. That's why the Raven Black respray continues to have a piano-like luster in the sunshine. This is the cool classic hardtop that's a terrific mix of sleek darkness and shining brightwork.
And the full brightwork package contrasts the black nicely while also harmonizing with it thanks to the level of shine. It's important to get this chrome and stainless correct because Ford's designers made sure to give you something special for the Galaxie's debut. The wide front bumper and grille want to own the road; the side trim loves to add emphasis to the tailfins that begin behind the door; and the rear bumper helps frame those jet-age tail lights. But more than just vintage, this is also a custom cruiser, and you see it in the details. There are polished dual exhaust tips and the front is smoother with deleted badging. And the Cragar SS wheels have a modern size and a 16/17-inch front/rear stagger for a nice sporty stance.
The black theme continues inside. The wide bench seats have a cool/classic tuck and roll style, and the door panels were done to match. The carpets, headliner, dash, glass, and window rubbers all show well for an overall quality feeling. So you have an inviting look with the right touch of vintage custom style. That's why you'll love taking down all the side glass on this hardtop just so people can get a better look inside. The bright dash and classic Ford family crest steering wheel give this the right classic look, but there are also the right well-integrated upgrades. A retro-style AM/FM stereo with aux input means better driving music.
And this is a better all-around driver with Moon auxiliary gauges below the dash, a Hurst floor shifter, and a handy tach added to the steering column.
The engine bay has the tidy look of a low mileage build. It's nice to see a Ford get upgraded in the engine bay, while still keeping the power in the blue oval family. It's a Ford Racing Boss 302 cubic-inch crate V8, and they were known for making about 340+ horsepower right out of the box. And it has all the best features, including aluminum heads, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and Ford Racing headers feeding the dual exhaust. It also has good supporting components, like a full MSD ignition system, an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans, and the battery relocated to the trunk for better weight distribution. The upgraded power is utilized to the fullest thanks to the addition of a five-speed manual transmission, and it feeds Richmond 4.11 gears with Moser axles. So you get strong and quick takeoffs. And upgrades like rear traction bars and four-wheel disc brakes make it easy to keep the big power under your firm control.
The sale comes complete with the warranty card, previous registration info, build receipts, and restoration photos. This first-ever Galaxie has been upgraded to make sure this cool classic hardtop is now also a fun street machine. Call today!!!
