DEEP-RED DROP-TOP, 289 V8, AUTO, DUAL EXHAUST, PWR STEERING/BRAKES/TOP, CLEAN!

This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible is the car you've been looking for. Beautifully restored with a smooth A-code 289 under the hood and a timeless color combination, it's exactly the car everyone thinks of when they imagine an early Mustang. Professionally finished, it's very correct but features a few invisible upgrades that make it especially entertaining to drive.

Bright red remains one of the most popular colors for sporty Mustangs, and it's easy to see why. It's bold, sophisticated, and classic, the perfect choice for a Mustang convertible. This one also benefits from clean, straight sheetmetal and zero paint issues thanks to a recent respray to a good driver-grade finish. The paint is shiny, and the entire package fits together well, so the doors open and close easily and the hood lines up as it should, and you know a lot of money was spent to get it here. Both front and rear bumpers are in decent shape, and the stainless trim show shows a nice shine against the brilliant red paint. This is a real-deal A-code 289 4-barrel car so correct '289' emblems were installed on the front fenders. It does without any stripes or GT fog lights, instead sticking to the original recipe. You want to ... Please ask for the full description.

You want to get noticed, this Mustang is a great way to do it.

The black bucket seat interior is beautifully done, giving you a good idea of how clean this car is. It's a combination of original and replacement parts done a few years ago, with the only issue being two small tears on the driver's seat that are almost impossible to see. We love the sophisticated effect of basic black in a Mustang, which prevents it from being red overload, it's quite correct throughout, from the gauges to the shifter on the floor, although the center console obviously isn't OEM. An aftermarket A/C unit lives under the dash in the usual location and the hardware suggests that it's been there almost since the car was new. The factory AM radio is still in the middle of the dash and fully operational, and all the gauges work except the ammeter, which is typical of these cars. Overhead, there's a black convertible top with clear rear window, and it stows under a black boot so the clean lines of the convertible aren't interrupted.

The fifth digit in the VIN is an "A" which means a 289 cubic inch V8 lives under the hood. Rated at 225 horsepower, it remains almost entirely stock. The 289 is a reliable, fun powerplant that moves the little Mustang eagerly with great V8 sounds, and you'll love the way it feels like it could pull forever. The engine bay is nicely detailed with Ford Blue paint, some chrome valve covers, and a matching open-element air cleaner up top. It's also got power steering and brakes, which are always welcome on a V8 Mustang, as well as a fresh dual exhaust system that sounds spectacular. Underneath, the chassis is extremely clean and tidy, offering a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and an 8-inch rear end hanging on fresh shocks. Styled steel wheels are a great Mustang look and carry unassuming 6.95x14 whitewalls that look like 1966 all over again.
