351 WINDSOR V8, AUTO, POWER STEERING, POWER FRONT DISC, COLD A/C, SHELBY REAR!

If you went looking for a clean, used Mustang in the late 1970s, something like this gorgeous 1967 Ford Mustang coupe is probably what you would have found. Not a perfect show car, but rather one that has been tastefully restored, upgraded, and driven and enjoyed with a ton of personality and a lot of fun still left in it. With a smooth-running 351W V8, several top options, and a sporty look highlighted by those bright alloys and that GT350-style rear end, this dazzling little coupe will reward you with years of great memories behind the wheel.

When the current owner bought this Mustang back in 2006, it was a solid little Inline-6 Sprint that was destined for greater glory. A full restoration began and old floorpans were replaced, every major component was attended to, the drivetrain was upgraded, and the rather boring, original Springtime Yellow paint and bodywork was updated with the attention-grabbing Gulfstream Aqua finish you see now. It's an exciting color, one that's period-correct yet still manages to look modern thanks to a professional application finished to a top driver-quality standard with a terrific gloss and blistering shine. Sporty side scoops and an aggressive ... Please ask for the full description.

Sporty side scoops and an aggressive GT350/500-style rear clip were incorporated into the build, complete with a fiberglass decklid, three-piece ducktail spoiler, Thunderbird taillights, and quad-tip exhaust poking out from under the rear valance. Coupled with the sharp 'C' creases on the profiles, the dual-scoop hood, and original Mustang 'crosshairs' front grille, this once subdued coupe looks built for battle, and the slightly kicked-up rear end makes it look like it's going fast even when it's standing still. The black vinyl top is a great addition that provides a bit of formality and breaks up the bright color just enough, while all the trim and brightwork was polished up to a great shine, including the bumpers, rocker panel trim, and those bright Torque Thrust alloys.

Inside, the builders got it right by putting in tall black buckets featuring firm seat covers and head rests up front that look and feel fresh, matched by an untouched rear bench seat and super-clean door panels at the flanks. Plush black carpets were laid down smoothly and come protected with matching floormats, a taut headliner above looks new, and the factory center console that splits the front buckets is a high-end, black-and-chrome option that transforms the cabin into a sporty and elegant cockpit. Inside that center console is a chrome shifter that manages the C4 automatic transmission below, and it leads up into the center of the dash where a retro-style AM/FM/Cassette/AUX stereo was neatly installed and pushes tunes through upgraded Roadmaster speaker stashed throughout the interior. A sporty, three-spoke woodrimmed steering wheel feels great in your hands and includes a Mustang horn button, so most folks won't know it's not original equipment. Frills are low, in keeping with the vintage coupe's mission, but you do shoulder seatbelts up front, a full R134a A/C system that's blowing ice cold, and power steering and power front disc brakes. The bright silver dash trim is a welcome accent to the black upholstery, and the dash pad itself is in excellent shape too, providing a perfect backdrop to the crystal-clear factory gauges mounted just beyond the steering wheel. And coupes are great because they offer big trunk space, even with a full-sized spare living atop the plaid cover.

But the number one reason people buy and love Mustangs lives under the hood: genuine American V8 power. In the case of this coupe, it's a swapped-in 351 cubic inch V8 that was rebuilt and bored .030 over in 2007, and the upgraded with a Summit 4-barrel carburetor atop an Edelbrock RPM intake – all of which are an easy upgrade from the original T-code 6-cylinder. Intended to look mostly stock, the illusion includes proper Ford Blue paint on the engine, polished valve covers, and a shiny Moroso air cleaner up top. An MSD ignition coil, Accel super-coil, and modern alternator give it instant spark, an upgraded Sanden A/C compressor keeps the cabin cold, and ceramic-coated long-tube headers help the block breathe through the X-pipe dual exhaust system below. It starts and runs very well, with the kind of torque the pulls the lightweight Mustang around with real authority, and a big aluminum radiator keeps the whole show nice and cool. There's a C4 3-speed automatic behind the 351W driving a bulletproof Ford 8-inch rear with Moser axles and fairly tall gears, so it's a comfortable highway cruiser. Power steering and power front disc brakes are great additions for driving, and the upgraded front swaybar, bushings, and fresh shocks at the corners help it stick to the road. It rolls on big, shiny American Racing Torque Thrust style wheels wrapped in staggered 205/65/15 front and 235/60/15 rear performance radials, so it's definitely going to get some attention.

Handsome and fun to drive, there are far worse ways to spend a sunny afternoon than behind the wheel of this dialed-in Mustang coupe. Call today!
