This was the final evolution of the Grand Wagoneer where Jeep was in the hands of Chrysler. They made some subtle upgrades without ever taking anything away from the original spirit. And that theme is taken to heart on this example. The Grey Metallic is an attractive and modern color that gives a more modern twist than the wood veneer sides of other Wagoneers. But this added gloss also seems to help highlight the well-creased lines that have made these grand Jeeps so appealing for decades. And the upgraded American Racing Outlaw II wheels add a nice polish to go with the chrome bumpers and grille. It's a good look, but this classic is not ready for retirement. From the fog lights up front to the trailer hitch in the rear, this lifted SUV wants to be useful and makes sure you aren't too timid to enjoy it.

When you open the door, the first thing you notice is the upholstery. The upgraded saddle and tan are an intricate ultraleather two-tone that fits well with the other earth-tones of the interior. This has plenty of nice features like an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo with Bluetooth, power windows, and plenty of room for everyone. There are some details that need servicing, like the R134a air conditioning, power locks, and the dash pad, but overall, you have the same spacious and luxurious feeling that you love in a Wagoneer. These give you a proper driver's feeling with the front bucket seats with a fold-down armrest in-between, and the tilt steering column gives you a good view of the classic gauges.

The Jeep/AMC 360 cubic-inch V8 has a long-standing reputation for being a sturdy powerhouse. This is heightened further on this one because we were told it was given a more recent rebuild, and the strong way this one fires up and runs supports this claim. They also added an Edelbrock AVS2 four-barrel carburetor. That makes for a strong-running powerful package that gives a nice and low tune out of the exhaust. This is part of the Chrysler era, and so this stout V8 is mated to the A727 three-speed automatic transmission for the ideal balance of stout and smooth. That's good on this Wagoner because the lifted stance and BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM3 tires enhance the 4x4's go-anywhere ability. And power steering, power brakes, and font discs help keep this feel good on the road, too.
