The 1969 Buick GS 400 is the ultimate dream muscle car for many of us. It ideally blends the worlds of luxury and V8 performance. So it's time to take notice when you find an exceptionally well-presented example that is attractive everywhere from the extra-sleek paint to the working fresh air hood.
Crystal Blue Poly is one of those colors that has a timeless appeal, so it's the ideal factory hue for this coupe. But the reason why you especially find it so attractive today is because this was given a quality respray later in life so that it remains radiant in the sunshine today. As a true Buick, it artfully blends grace and power. You see it in the functional hood louvers, Buick Rallye wheels with redline tires, and sweeping profile with crisp sheet metal that gives this coupe sporty scalloped sides. Plus, the premium black vinyl top fits like new. And the 1960s had some of the best designs for bumpers.
You see that especially in the rear in the rear, where the wide chrome piece integrates into the angular rear fenders and trunk. This is truly a thoughtful-looking muscle machine.
Inside is the same upscale performance vintage attitude. The clean black vinyl roof is a preview of the clean black vinyl interior. There's space for family and friends, but this one is a driver's car at its heart. That's why you have the high-back front bucket seats, Buick's X2 Rallye steering wheel, center console, and iconic horseshoe shifter. We like how this one is basically a time capsule, right down to details like the working dome light and Buick logo floormats. Even the AM radio is still on display with its cool B-U-I-C-K preset buttons. And this was a factory A/C car - most of the components were removed for the sake of power, but thankfully, they didn't alter the factory heater controls.
Under the hood is an era-correct 400 cubic-inch V8. It's dressed correctly with the genuine fresh air intake, correct GS 400 air topper, and handsomely upgraded Stage 1 polished valve covers. You'll also spot the right investment like a newer alternator, newer plug wires, and an SD ignition. The mighty motor fires up with gusto as it inhales deeply through the four-barrel carburetor. It exhales with authority thanks to a good-looking dual exhaust. The V8 has serious power that made these Buicks a force to be reckoned with, and making sure that power gets to the ground is a stout numbers-matching TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Add that to the power steering, power brakes, and a Buick's solid road feel, and you've got a thundering muscle car that also has everyday sensibilities.
The sale comes complete with the ultra-desirable factory buildsheet. Buick's muscle cars were more expensive than the mainstream, and so finding one this clean and complete today is a rare sight. Make sure you don't miss this opportunity on such a sharp hardtop. Call today!!!
