Description
There are few cars ever created that can imbue a sense of freedom and fun, quite like a first-generation Chevrolet Camaro. As one of the original stable of Pony Cars, the Camaro has been one of the enduring namesakes over the last several decades. This particular 1969 Chevrolet Camaro convertible is very unique in the way it is being presented. From the outset, the big, staggered Billet Specialties wheels measuring 18 inches up front and 20 inches out back shod in 215/40ZR-18 and 255/35ZR-20, respectively, combined with the metallic Burnish Brown respray paint job, convey a sense that this car must be a complete restomod, and yet it is anything but.
Pop the hood, and you'll find a believed-original 307 cubic-inch (5.0-liter) V-8 motor, complete with a stock-style exhaust and GM two-barrel carburetor. That old-school engine sends power through a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. That powertrain rides on an independent front/leaf spring with shocks rear suspension setup. Power drum brakes at both the front and rear do an admirable job of scrubbing off speed despite their antiquated design.
Inside, black vinyl bucket seats up front, a functioning original-style AC Delco AM/FM push-button radio, woodgrain dash trim, and original-style two-spoke steering wheel all do a marvelous job of transporting you back to a time when NASA was the only company trying to get into outer space.
