With its dynamic styling and high-octane color, this 2002 Pontiac Trans Am is a car that simply attracts attention. It was a regular on the local car show circuit at one time and brought home more than its share of hardware while doing so - a testimony to the inspired aesthetics it rolled off the assembly line with. Having logged around 50,000 miles in its lifetime - unusually low for a car of its era - and running strong, it has plenty more enjoyment to offer its next owner.
Its magnetic bright red exterior is looking sharp, with a nice shine that will follow you as you take a lap around the car. The distinctively designed hood, featuring a pair of prominent scoops, comes via this Trans Am's elevated WS6 status and it's not there just for show - those scoops are fully functional and lead to a Ram Air intake. On the underside, mirror inserts that accentuate the engine compartment are a sign of this Pontiac's successful run on the local car show circuit. Just in front of the hood, the pair of folding headlights still rise up on cue and sit flush in their lowered position.
T-tops have been a defining characteristic of the Trans Am ever since they were introduced in the mid-'70s and the styling cue is well represented here - this pair still fits nicely. This is a classic that has come through the years in good fashion - with its Hearst badges and Trans Am emblems all very much intact, its curb appeal is undeniable.
The accompanying black leather interior has been kept in good condition, with bolstered bucket seats up front and supportive, yet comfortable seating in back that really present well. The cabin remains in largely factory form, save for an aftermarket AM/FM/CD stereo and a Hurst shifter that takes the position of the original on a clean center console. The level of functionality throughout the interior is impressive, even the horn - and all the gauges are clear and working. Comfort and convenience features include air conditioning, cruise control, power door locks, windows and mirrors and a rear window defogger. An anti-theft device is also on hand to help ensure that this beauty doesn't leave your possession without your permission.
Plentiful power comes via the fuel injected 5.7-liter LS1 engine beneath this Trans Am's distinctive hood. Fed cold, dense air by a Ram Air induction system, the engine exhales into a low restriction dual exhaust that minimizes back pressure and was capable of 325 horsepower when this car left the production line - good enough to propel it to a sub-five second 0-60 time. The powerplant teams with a 6-speed manual T56 transmission that puts full control of its output in the hands of the driver. A traction control system helps to efficiently direct that power to the asphalt and, because the WS6 package also included upgraded shocks, firmer springs and front and rear sway bars, this Pontiac is quite an accomplished corner carver. There are anti-lock power disc brakes at all four corners to bring its set of 17" special edition American Racing wheels to a stop when called upon.
Chock full of early 2000s style and very well-equipped, this award-winning 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 would look great in any collector's garage. Call today!
