The 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was an instant collectible that combined impressive style with a fuel-injected 32-valve 305 hp V8. These special edition cars were only available for a couple of years, and on a very rare occasion, you will come across a correctly preserved example. Ford wanted to up its game even beyond the awesome GT, so it resurrected the Mach 1 package. The Mach 1 was special for another reason: horsepower. This DOHC 32-valve 4.6-liter V8 was upgraded right from the factory. This included a twin-bore 57mm throttle body, high-flow heads, a special setup on the camshafts, and a performance exhaust manifold. The result is a 305-horsepower juggernaut. Ford engineers also took the time to add a host of suspension improvements front and rear (including the springs, sway bars, and frame bracing) to make this an enhanced driver for the enhanced performance V8. The four-speed automatic transmission was one of the few options you could get on these already-loaded special edition cars, and it gives you a nice balance of easy overdrive cruising and quick kick-downs into power. And power steering and four-wheel power disc brakes (Brembo fronts) are all about making for a great driver if you ever do decide to add to the low odometer.
