This 1973 International Scout II has an irresistible honest charm that comes from making investments in the right classic pieces without taking away from the simple but rugged style that keep these such attractive classics.
We love the machines from International Harvester because they were built for real work duty. This one shows that off perfectly with it's simple but proud blue paint. You can really tell there has been an investment in quality and care by the way the soft glow of the color shows of well-done sheetmetal. It's nothing too flashy, and in fact, the largest pieces of brightwork are the correct IH wheel covers. So instead of chrome, people are more likely to admire how the rugged liner paint of the bed still lets this one get to work when it wants. There's an elegance in this simplicity. Like the way the white bumpers go with the whitewall tires. And we love the roof. It has a great color-matched look for an awesome short bed pickup appearance. And there are even cool details, like the sliding rear window and bed light. And you can still remove this top to turn this honest pickup into a cool convertible cruiser whenever you want.

Because you can open this up to the world, the interior keeps the rugged and simple feeling going. But you'll also find this quite appealing with newer pieces like the durable floor mats, good dash, and nice door cards. You can also see there have been a few upgrades for comfort like the high-back bucket seats and an AM/FM digital tuner w/cassette.
Under the hood is the correct-style 258 cubic-inch inline-six. This is an AMC motor that found a home in many Jeeps, too. While it seems a little funny to have Scouts and CJs have the same powerhouse, today it means good parts availability. And this one looks like it has already gotten the right investments. You see it everywhere from the tidy appearance with shining valve cover, to the helpful large aluminum radiator. It starts easily, idles nicely, and runs with confidence. And since these had a hardy reputation in the Jeeps, you know it can also get to work in an industrial-grade IH machine like this. The four-speed manual transmission even has a proper granny gear first so you can have plenty of immediate torque when you really need it. But this one is good for more than just work duty. Power steering and power brakes make it easy to enjoy this former workhorse as a fun cruiser, too.
It's hard not to be impressed by a classic SUV/pickup that uses its classic robustness to create some real charm. So if you've been looking for a true classic-style Scout, you know this one is too much fun to pass up. Call now!
