When it comes down to tuner Mustangs, no other name stands as tall as Jack Roush. The cars (and engines) bearing his name represent the pinnacle of Blue Oval performance, something demonstrated in excellent form by this dazzling 2011 Ford Mustang Roush Stage 1. It shows just under 42,000 original miles and remains in as-delivered condition in virtually every way, making it one heck of a bargain compared to just about anything you'd buy today.
If you're going to have the nastiest, fastest Mustang on the block, why not paint it a super-cool color like Sterling Gray? By 2011, the Roush cars were fully developed, and that included a few body modifications included in Roush's Aero Body Kit that blend in so well that it's almost impossible to spot them without a stock GT sitting next to it. Up front there's a new front fascia that includes a custom billet grille, front splitter, and a cowl hood; nothing gaudy, mind you, just very slick and functional-looking. Rocker extensions (aka side splitters) mirror the chin spoiler and a redesigned rear fascia with a 3-piece spoiler on the deck and a rather conservative diffuser (by today's standards anyway) below emphasizes the Mustang's fastback profile. ...
Roush signature graphics and badges are another reminder that this is no ordinary Mustang, just in case the big wheels and stance didn't tip you off, and the off-setting light silver color is the perfect contrast to the dark gray finish. Of course, with so few miles, this one is in pretty darn good shape, with a fantastic shine on the paint, beautiful factory panel fit, and very little evidence that it's ever been driven hard on the street. It's no longer perfect and you can tell it's been driven, but the imperfections are minor and I would guess that many of them could be remedied with a professional buff-and-polish. Bottom line, it looks great and this is still a car that can make other muscle cars run and hide.
Anchored by a set of grippy black bucket seats, the interior is a serious place for doing the business of driving fast. The original leather buckets wear pleated inserts and gorgeous white stitch work, Jack Roush's signature is on the glove compartment and there's a commemorative badge on the center console, and the result totally transforms the Mustang's driver's compartment. You also get upgrades like special white-faced gauges, a trick short-throw shifter for the 6-speed manual gearbox, and Roush-spec pedals, floor mats, and sill plates. The Mustang's features list includes powerful A/C, power seats, windows, locks, and mirrors, cruise control, and a thundering Shaker AM/FM/CD/satellite stereo system just to name a few. The back seat has likely never been used, while out back the trunk is spotless as well.
The Stage 1 Roush package didn't need to do much to the all-new Coyote 5.0 liter V8 that was introduced for this model year, with a staggering 412 horsepower and plateau-like 390 lb-ft of torque curve. And remarkably, this beauty was factory-rated at 26 MPG on the highway, although I doubt anyone in history has been able to keep their foot that light on the accelerator of a Roush. Unlike many of the modern muscle cars from this era that could really only go very fast in a straight line, Roush engineers focused bringing the rest of the car up to the remarkable engine's level. Smooth, tractable, eminently civilized, it rips through the gears with the force of a starving, er, coyote. The sole modification is a K&N CAI and it has always been properly maintained, and with a life spent in warm California and Texas, you know it's in great shape underneath as well. The aforementioned 6-speed manual gearbox is a joy to shift as it spins the 3.73 geared rear end, and with Ford's factory efforts being as good as they are, the Roush engineers focused on suspension. Lower, stiffer springs, and upgraded bushings are found throughout, and in back, it gets a big sway bar to manage the Mustang's notorious wheel hop, making for a Mustang that feels far more agile without the harsh ride penalty. Power 4-wheel disc brakes are famously powerful right out of the box, but this car surrounds them with optional 20-inch Roush chrome wheels wrapped in 275/35/20 Bridgestone performance radials.
Documented with the original owner's manuals and various Jack Roush documentation, this Roush delivers big performance that's still a bargain in today's world. Call now!
