Original Window Sticker |
The 1964 Chevrolet Malibu is already the kind of car that turns heads, but there's something extra special about this convertible. It is a true Super Sport (we have the original window sticker to prove it) and every inch shines from a painstaking amount of custom work.
You can tell there's something special about this Malibu SS from as far off as across the show field. The original red color has been transformed into a beautiful electric blue. It shines nearly as bright as the Torq Thrust wheels. This drop-top has laser-straight lines thanks to its complete frame off restoration. Look at this car closely and you'll find that the workmanship is outstanding. Not merely nice, but good enough that people stop and remark about what a pretty car it is. Early Malibus have exceptionally clean lines and with a distinct lack of chrome and trim, it is particularly important that the bodywork be right. The details are crisp, especially the flared rear quarter panels that are the car's defining feature, as well as the crisply contoured hood that bears a familial resemblance to its big brother, the Impala. Chrome is excellent, and the bright details like the taillight surround and front grille have ... Please ask for the full description.

Description
Chrome is excellent, and the bright details like the taillight surround and front grille have been beautifully restored. Someone invested big to make this car look this good.
The interior is quite far from stock, but it keeps all the right original touches. The best place this can be understood is on the black vinyl interior. A true SS needs bucket seats. This one delivers with the same low-back proportions as all 1964 Malibu SS cars, but it has been upgraded with a more striking pattern that offers better bolstering for all-day comfort. The driver gets the classic shine of the Chevy wheel, but behind it is a new set of Dakota Digital VHX gauges. These have a cool nighttime blue glow that coordinates with the custom paint and the interior accent stripe. The original AM radio is still in place to keep the chrome of the dash intact, but your real tunes come from an AM/FM/CD changer unit stealthily mounted in the open space below the dash.
Pop the hood and you'll find that the original 283 cubic-inch small block has been given a serious upgrade to a much younger and more powerful 350 V8. The two-speed powerglide automatic was also upgraded to a much more versatile three-speed unit. But for those who like the original powertrain, all of the numbers-matching components can be had in a separate deal with the owner. Personally, we enjoy the added power and usefulness of the upgrades already installed on this SS convertible. It makes for an intimidating symphony from the dual exhaust. Plus, the extra range of the new automatic matches well with the power steering and power brakes with a front disc upgrade. It gives this convertible the feeling that it can be an all-day cruiser.
This is the kind of convertible you drive out of our showroom and take right to the car show. It is a great mix of a custom convertible with all the important original pieces intact and/or readily available. With quality and looks like this it wont last long under our showroom lights...call now!!
