This second generation 442 represents the last of its type, still very much a member of the muscle car realm just one year before various design changes would add several hundred pounds to the Cutlass's weight. The saddle bronze hue looks sharp - it's a very well prepped and executed paint job mirroring one of Oldsmobile's offerings the very year this car came out. Sporting clean, straight bumpers and unblemished trim and bright work everywhere you look, its curb appeal is undeniable. Take a look from the front and you'll immediately notice that distinctive split grille, razor sharp "442" badging and fresh darkened bezels surrounding its set of double twin headlights. Generously proportioned but still agile-looking, it's a great open-air cruiser, but in less than forgiving weather, the power convertible top - decked out in contrasting white vinyl - raises and lowers without complaint and even sports a one-piece glass rear window, sparing you the usual haze that results when plastic is substituted.

Thoroughly refurbished in its original color, the rich brown interior on this Olds is as equally impressive as its exterior. The extra wide bucket seats sport a tuck and roll pattern and remain very well-padded, straddling a good looking center console to provide welcome storage space that's just the right height to rest an elbow while cruising the boulevard. In back, the bench seat looks as if it's seen very few passengers, showing virtually no wear at all. Underneath runs an expanse of fresh brown carpeting. Just beyond the 4-spoke steering wheel, the dash area remains in its original configuration, with its woodgrain panels newly refurbished and table-straight dash pad on top. Unlike many drop tops of its era, this 442 has air conditioning, and it's in good form, too - blowing strong and cold through the factory registers on the dash. One of the nice dividends provided by the 442's relatively lengthy wheelbase is the interior space you'll find in both front and back - there's plenty of leg and shoulder room for you and your passengers, making this one comfortable ride, even on longer excursions. In that same spirit, there's all the luggage space you could want for you and your passengers in the trunk area, and a full-size spare and jack sit securely fastened in place.

Still very much a member of the muscle car class, this '72 is equipped accordingly, with its original matching numbers 350-cubic inch V8 sitting under the hood. It's a great sounding powerplant, emitting a rich, pleasing note out of the dual exhausts. This is a very road-ready, vintage convertible all the way around - the 3-speed automatic transmission shifts with confidence-inspiring precision, and with power steering and power brakes, navigating and stopping comes easy. While some of its counterparts were still being equipped with leaf springs in back, Olds had already switched to coils, providing a smoother ride and taking spring binding and shackle noises out of the equation. This impressively restored drop top classic sits on a set of stock 14" Oldsmobile rims, wrapped with Firestone Wide Oval tires.
