PRO TOURING, GORGEOUS BLACK, RARE X22 CODE, 396 CID, 4 SPD, FULLY RESTORED!

Given a blank sheet of canvas like a real X22 code Camaro SS, what would you do? For most of us, the ideal early Camaro isn't much different from this cool black coupe: big block, manual transmission, 4-wheel discs and a load of creature comforts, all wrapped in a very stock-looking shell. The result is a gorgeous car that runs even better than it looks.

First generation F-bodies have different personalities depending on the color, but there's no mistaking a car dressed in sinister black. Hunkered down over polished Torque Thrusts, this car sits right, and the rake only emphasizes the aggressive cowl induction hood and traditional ducktail spoiler out back. Panel gaps are exemplary, and there's no doubt that there's a ton of money wrapped up in this car. The stripes were embedded in the clear, so the finish is practically seamless and against the black paint. With a finish this nice, those small details like the gill trim and wheel well moldings really stand out. Electric headlight doors ensure reliability and give the car an instantly identifiable face combined with the SS grille. Proper 396 badges are on the flanks, and they're definitely no joke.

Deluxe bucket seats with textured inserts are a welcome change inside, where it has been restored to show condition. Everything is new, from the seat covers to the carpets to the headliner, and the workmanship is impressive. There's nothing radically altered, and the stock gauges (including the factory tach) remain in the dash along with the quartet of auxiliary gauges in the console. The Hurst cue ball controls a heavy-duty M22 4-speed, but this isn't an entirely uncivilized beast, as it also offers powerful A/C and a newer AM/FM/CD stereo system that sounds awesome. The original steering wheel and wood appliques have been refinished, keeping with the stock vibe inside, and the trunk has been finished in correct spatter paint.

Ultimately, though, this car is all about power, and under that cowl induction hood there's a built 1969 vintage 396 cubic inch big block that now cranks out more than 500 horsepower. Aluminum heads, a high-rise intake, and a giant 4-barrel keep it fed, while an MSD ignition system lights the fires. Beautiful cast aluminum Chevrolet valve covers give it a race look under the hood, and the workmanship is tidy and functional, but clearly built to perform. Underneath, there are a ton of upgrades aimed at harnessing all that power, including a Mosier M9 rear end with 3.50 gears on a Detroit locker, subframe connectors, and a rack-and-pinion steering upgrade. SSBC supplied a disc brake for each corner, and it has been lowered two inches all around, with handling augmented by tubular control arms, Edelbrock IAS shocks, and a set of sway bars. Staggered 235/45/17 front and 255/45/17 rear BFGoodrich radials give it just the right rake.

With over $100,000 invested in the build, it's one of the nicest Camaros around. Own it today for a fraction of the cost to build your own. Call now!
