2188CC MOTOR, 5-SPEED, FRONT DISCS, LOADED W/ HISTRICL DOCS, GR8 BRITISH CLASSIC

With its classic styling, nice colors, and unbeatable driving personality, this 1959 Triumph TR3 is an enthusiast's machine. In fact, it's been restored with such an eye for driving (including a five-speed upgrade) that this example has not only been an award-winner, but also a magazine feature car.

The design of this is pure European style. The full-width grille is a clear indicator of the TR3A, and those headlights are beautifully crafted into the body. The long flowing fenders and low-cut doors carry a more dramatic line than even the XK120 roadster. It all ends in a rear design that has a hint of a tailfin to appeal to the all-important USA export market. It's amazing that this much style could be contained in such a compact body. In fact, the size and weight of the TR3 has made it a perpetual darling in road course racing, and features like the removable windscreen, Minilite-style wheels, and added roll bar only heighten that feeling. But the sunny yellow paint also gives this one a very cheery disposition. And while one was built for sunny-day fun, the crisp black top with excellent side curtains keep this one looking distinctive even in wet weather.

This example was completely restored in 2012 and there is only about 7,000 miles on it since then. So the bucket seats, dash, door panels, carpeting, and everything else gives off the impression of quality from moment you sit down. This car was built for the pure driving experience. So you'll love gazing at the full Jaeger gauge package, grabbing the grippy wood and chrome steering wheel, and the gearbox is just a fingertip away. Push the start knob and then let the wind whip through the interior while you help fill it with the wonderful soundtrack from the motor.

One of the reasons why the TR3 is a sought-after roadster from the 50s is under the hood. The 2188cc motor was one of the larger displacements for the class – outpacing other icons like the MGA. The engine bay has the kind of tidy look that instantly tells you this was restored with care, and those twin SU carbs are something we all look for at the car shows. The motor's nice condition means you know this is the one you want for an easy jaunt down the open road. And while these sprightly roadsters have built a reputation for providing one of the best driving experiences around, this one is enhanced even further. You have terrific upgrades like rack & pinion steering and a five-speed manual transmission. Plus, there's the surefootedness of front disc brakes, Koni shocks, and Vredestein Sprint tires that offer a classic look but modern grip.

This is a special Triumph, and that's why it had a story in Auto Restorer Magazine (the magazine even comes with the sale!) In fact, the sale also comes with a binder full of receipts, info, and a copy of factory record from British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. This is a fun and clean pure driving machine, and so you don't want to miss this Triumph. Call today!!!
