It's a cool car; it's an economy car; it's a sports car – the 2007 Mini Cooper S convertible fits all the definitions you could ever want in a useful future classic. And while there are plenty of different ways of looking at this car, all of them are exceptionally affordable.
The appeal of this car is black and white...literally. The original factory Pepper White paint still has a nice gloss and shine today (it's no accident since the precision experts at BMW are behind Mini's rebirth.) It also helps that this car has been cared for so that the sheetmetal remains quite good. The person who ordered this car understood color coordination. After all, Minis already came with the fender flairs, trim, and antenna in black. When you add in options like checkerboard mirror covers and hood stripes, it gives a cool two-tone appearance that makes this look great with the matching black roof in place.
That power folding roof has a very cool piece that will stop halfway whenever you want to have a large sunroof. Description
And when you fold it all the way back, that great color coordination continues with the full black interior. You slip behind a grippy three-spoke factory wheel, and ahead of you is a large speedo and tach. In the center is a large readout reminiscent of the original Austin Mini. But where the classic just had a speedometer, this modern classic has a full LCD readout that includes sat nav and parking sensor readouts. Below that is you your AM/FM/CD stereo and air conditioning (always handy in a convertible.) Plus, the power windows, power locks, and other modern luxuries are on cool toggle switches. You even get the safety convenience of front airbags, side air bags, and ABS. This is truly a thoughtful mix of retro touches with modern luxury.
The little "S" badges on the sides and rear are quite important to this car. It means the multi valve 1.6-liter has been given a turbocharger and a 45% bump in horsepower. This is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that gives you the best of everything. After all, with power steering and cruise control, it makes this convertible a great long-distance machine. But there's also paddle shifters on the steering wheel when you want full control over this livery motor. And the fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes make sure this retro car lives to the sporting heritage that made original Mini Cooper giant killers on the racetracks and rally circuit.
Complete with maintenance record and owner's manual, this is road-carving convertible in a terrific color combo. No matter if you're looking for an affordable future classic or something cool to keep the miles off of your vintage ride, this irresistible price means you need to hurry up and grab this deal.
