Description
When Chevy decided in 1970 to name its first-ever personal luxury sedan after the Moroccan version of Las Vegas, it set the tone for what the Monte Carlo would be moving forward throughout its six generations of existence. This 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo we have for you embodies GM's initial push to create a great cruiser that could be thought of as a 'gentleman's muscle car.' Fully repainted in this shimmering Cobalt Blue, this two-door coupe looks as cool as they come.
Inside, we find a black vinyl interior. Front and rear bench seating leaves room for everyone, while the woodgrain dash trim adds just the right amount of contrasting color. A two-spoke power-assisted steering wheel sits just ahead of a three-pod gauge cluster, featuring a 120 mph speedometer flanked by a fuel gauge and analog clock. Sliding HVAC controls keep temperature control simple, while new seat covers, carpet, and headliner make this car feel decades younger than it really is.
Under the hood, we find a tried-and-true 350 cubic-inch overhead valve V-8 engine. Fed by a single Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, this small block expels spent gases via an upgraded dual exhaust installed by the current owner. Power from that big engine is routed through a three-speed automatic transmission before being sent off to a 10-bolt rear end.
