VERY SLICK BLACK PAINT, GHOST FLAMES, MOTOR STROKED TO 383, RUNS STRONG!
You know it, I know it, everyone knows that there aren't many cooler cars than a '69 Camaro SS in black. Combined with a slick black interior and those icy cool flames, this is one of the slickest resto-mods we've featured in a long time.
You can't go wrong with basic black, but sometimes that's just not enough. So they got the car super straight, shot it with the blackest black they could find, then decided to add some impact with electric blue ghost flames on the front end. It ultimately gives this car a long, lean, predatory look that's emphasized by the perfect stance and oversized 17-inch wheels. Paint and bodywork are exceptionally good, which is critical on a black car, and there's enough eye candy to keep you looking for quite a while. With a high gloss and a cowl-induction hood, you can't exactly accuse this car of sneaking around, but the overall look is very well integrated and not too radical, which is the key to building a truly great resto-mod. Proper SS badges have been installed, those bright chrome bumpers really pop against the inky black paint, and there's a blacked-out SS grille up front that makes the car look hungry.
This car's spectacular interior really sets it apart. Borrowing a stock vibe and adding a few custom touches, it's a cool twist on the factory specs that makes this car look so right. Bucket seats with federally-mandated headrests are inviting and surprisingly supportive, and the headrests feature embroidered 'SS' emblems on their faces. The door panels appear to be stock, which suggests that this car wasn't intended to color too far outside the lines, and fresh carpets freshen things up a bit. The center console and B&M shifter add a competition-bred look, and you will note that this car was built for combat and doesn't waste pounds on a stereo system and includes auxiliary gauges under the dash. A handsome Grant GT steering wheel rendered in black matches the rest of the interior, and its smaller diameter and fatter rim give it a modern feel. And for some black overload, even the trunk was drenched in dark paint just for consistency's sake.
There's no better powerplant for your Camaro than a cackling 383 cubic inch stroker motor, and this one has been fortified with some goodies like a Holley 4-barrel atop an matched intake. Chrome details like the air cleaner, finned valve covers, and alternator bracket really sparkle against all that black paint, and underneath it all, there's more black paint on the block, nicely tying it all together. It was rebuilt just last year, so it runs superbly and has a nasty snarl only the strokers seem to get. The stout powerplant is backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission spinning a 10-bolt rear end, and while you're under there looking around, note the recent ceramic-coated long-tube headers dumping into a great-sounding Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The suspension has just the right stance and sits on 17-inch Foose wheels are a modern twist on the Torque Thrust design and wear recent Kumho radials.
