NEW SS WHEELS, EXCELLENT COLOR COMBO, SMOOTH RUNNING 350CI, VERY CLEAN INTERIOR

This 1968 Chevy Chevelle has all the right ingredients: a smart-running small block, classic colors, and a classic look with a twist. As a result, it's an easy car to love and given the popularity of the venerable A-body, we don't expect it to hand around long.

You'd be right to be impressed by the finish on this luscious red Chevelle, as the recent red paint was really nicely done and it's exactly the right color; not too orange, not too pink. Black stripes are always a welcome touch, but it's also nice to see that the car isn't trying too hard to be a fake SS. They even kept the stock hood in place, which makes cowl induction repros look kind of cliché. The chrome is quite good, particularly the bumpers and the standard Chevelle grille, and the all the original stainless trim has been polished. See? It's easy to understand why bright red Chevelles never last long in the showroom.

The interior offers black buckets and a custom center console. The seat covers look recent, the carpets are in great shape, and the wood-rimmed Grant GT steering wheel offsets all the black with a bit of natural warmth. The factory gauges look crisp and sharp, and the cool clock surrounded by auxiliary ... Please ask for the full description.

The factory gauges look crisp and sharp, and the cool clock surrounded by auxiliary gauges is a neat factory feature that they wisely left intact. They did, however, add a few auxiliary gauges under the dash that keep tabs on the important stuff like temperature and oil pressure. The custom center console was built for the trick Alpine AM/FM/CD/DVD/iPod touch screen entertainment system with a touch screen, and the setup is pretty darn impressive. There's also a big amplifier in the trunk that powers matching Alpine speakers throughout the interior. The rest of the trunk is in decent shape with spatter-finish paint, as the factory might have done it, but not much else beyond that amp.

The 350 cubic inch V8 has the usual upgrades inside, including a mild cam, an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor, and plenty of power to make this Chevelle a lot of fun to drive. It's painted stock Chevy Orange, which always looks right and with a few chrome dress-up pieces add some sparkle in the satin black engine bay. Stock exhaust manifolds are a good choice for a car that's going to get driven a lot and are connected to a nice-sounding dual exhaust system with new mufflers, tailpipes, and correct rectangular tips under the rear bumper. The undercarriage is pretty original, so it's not going to win any trophies, but the hardware is good, solid stuff: a TH350 3-speed automatic and a 10-bolt rear end. The wheels are modern replicas of the timeless SS, and they wear staggered 205/65/15 front and 255/60/15 rear black walls that don't interrupt the car's clean, smooth look.

All this goodness and an affordable sticker price? This Chevelle is a slam-dunk in every way that matters. Call today!
