390 V8, 4SPD TRANS, RIP THROUGH THE GEARS, PWR STEERING/BRAKES, AWESOME CAR, WOW

Here's a top-of-the-line, first-generation 1969 AMC Javelin SST with awesome V8 power and four-on-the-floor. It makes for a true muscle car cruiser from the “other” American brand that's always a rarity on the classic car scene.

AMC always did things a little differently, and the rewards can be huge for those who pay attention. For example, the model number tells us this is a premium SST coupe. When you add Kenosha's legendary low production numbers, you've got a cool classic example of rare American muscle. But this coupe's desirability goes beyond just rarity. It has a positively sporty dark side with dark mag wheels, a blackout grille, and a taut-fitting vinyl roof. And while we like the look of the chin spoiler, the rarely-seen roof spoiler is the true attention-getter. The vented hood, raised white letter tires, large dual exhaust tips, and vented rocker trim complete this true power car attitude. The trim tag tells us this was born a Matador Red car, and today it keeps the same bold appeal but in a deeper marron-like tone. It's a driver-quality finish that has a nice gloss to show off the lines, but nothing gets too fancy to keep you from ever hitting the road. And for many of ... Please ask for the full description.

390 V8, 4SPD TRANS, RIP THROUGH THE GEARS, PWR STEERING/BRAKES, AWESOME CAR, WOW

Here's a top-of-the-line, first-generation 1969 AMC Javelin SST with awesome V8 power and four-on-the-floor. It makes for a true muscle car cruiser from the "other" American brand that's always a rarity on the classic car scene.

And for many of us, owning a big V8 muscle car is to enjoy it with less worry.

The exterior's dark accents prepare you for the full charcoal interior. High-back bucket seats, a newer headliner, and plush carpeting with Javelin logo floor mats are all part of a well-done package. We especially like the full working light package with illumination in the footwell and C-pillar. And the wood-like trim is a reminder of the SST's upscale nature. There are even well-integrated details, like the AM/FM/cassette stereo with modern aux input added to the stock radio housing. There's also valuable info from the auxiliary gauges neatly mounted in the center stack. The classic three-spoke steering wheel feels grippy in your left hand, and your right one will love the Hurst shifter. And it all goes well with the large speedo and tach.

The best first-gen Javelins were born with the 390 cubic-inch V8, so we're glad to see that displacement still in this desirable X-code car. And the tidy style and big shine make it show-ready. But remember, part of the big appeal here is the driving experience, and this one delivers. The dual hoses for the intake mean plenty of fresh air delivered to the four-barrel carburetor and upgraded Edelbrock Torker intake. And Hooker headers let this exhale with added power while feeding the dual exhaust with a nice rumble. Thanks to the four-speed manual transmission, you are in firm control of it. Plus, power steering, power brakes, and wide Goodyear Eagle tires complete a package that makes this powerful coupe ready for the road.

Complete with maintenance receipts, it will be hard to find a muscle car with this kind of combination of power and rarity, even if you paid double the price. Don't miss this deal. Call now!
