Here is a beautiful 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS 409. These muscle cars are loved by many because of their stance, body lines, and, of course, their power-to-weight ratio. But this one takes the cake with its Roman Red paint job, classic shiny wheels, gorgeous chrome trim-including the bumpers, and its very low-key stock appearance. This example should rack up plenty of trophies at car shows and draw attention wherever it goes.

The interior is just as hot as the outside. The door jambs, OEM door sills, headliner, and weather stripping look fantastic, as do the carpets, center console, and front and rear seats. For extra protection, custom black floor mats add a nice touch. The dashboard appears to be in great shape and configured correctly for the year. The dashboard gauges are very clear and easy to read-off to the left is a SunPro tachometer, while off to the right are neatly installed iEquus aftermarket gauges for oil, volts, and water. In the center of the dashboard is a period-correct radio, while a functioning CD player is tucked into the glove box, connected to aftermarket subwoofers in the trunk. Underneath the dashboard is working A/C, so staying cool is never a problem.

Under the hood of this red bombshell is Chevy's legendary 409 cubic-inch engine with an Edelbrock 1906 carburetor. Power is sent through a 700R4 4-speed automatic, one of GM's toughest transmissions. Suspension duties are handled by front coil springs, shocks, and a sway bar, along with a rear solid axle with coil springs and shocks. OEM Chevrolet 15-inch wheels sit at all four corners, wrapped in BFG front 225/60R15 and rear 235/60R15 tires. Braking is provided by power front disc brakes and rear drums. A dual exhaust system with aftermarket mufflers lets the 409 roar with authority.
