A-CODE, 289 V9, 5SPD TRANS, PWR STEERING, & OTHER HIGHER-END PARTS, NICE

It's hard to find a more desirable first full-production year pony car than a factory-built fastback. And this 1965 Ford Mustang GT heightens that allure with a glossy finish, a beautifully upgraded interior, enhanced suspension, a five-speed upgrade, and a powerful 335hp V8 under the hood. So from every angle, you can tell this is an impressive coupe to both drive and show.

The fastback GT version of the Mustang was the one that made sure we knew Ford could deliver a performance pony. It had a smoother profile that wanted to cheat the wind, which seemed to go better with a high-gloss presentation of the Ivy Green. The trim tag tells us this is the factory-correct color, but the luster is better than what Ford gave you. And that's the way to view this whole car... it has investments and improvements you'll love, but it never strays too far from its heritage. The more sporty appeal comes from the right GT features, like the fog lights in the grille, proper badging, rocker stripe, and dual exhaust integrated through the rear valance. The VIN does tell us this was born an A-code car, and, according to the owner, this is a true GT. Bright chrome bumpers, doors that close with ... Please ask for the full description.

Bright chrome bumpers, doors that close with confidence, and upgraded Torq Thrust wheels deliver a distinct fastback that ideally blends an impressive style that also loves to hit the road.

The tan interior makes for a timeless color combo against the exterior green, so this is an incredibly thoughtful upgrade from the original black interior. And because this is a later addition, minor wear or use makes it far more inviting. You'll even love all the details, like the fold-down rear seat and complete interior lighting package that greets you when the door opens. They spent time making the right upgrades, including installing a retro-style AM/FM digital tuner that connects to upgraded stereo speakers and Bluetooth. The coupe also provides quite an engaging driver's feeling. You have the classic low-back bucket seats, a GT350-inspired wood-rimmed sports steering wheel, and a complete set of upgraded readouts with a large speedo and tach. And have you counted the gears on the Hurst shifter yet?

Under the hood is a tidy presentation of a terrific powerhouse. Since this is an A-code car, we love that it keeps the heritage of a 289 cubic-inch unit, but this V8 was given a full build for significant power. It includes a bored .30 over kit (10:1 compression) Erson hydraulic roller camshaft, ported & polished heads, oversized valves, screw-in studs, roller rockers, a Professional Products CrossWind aluminum intake, and topped with a Quick Fuel 750CFM four-barrel carburetor. You'll spot lovely supporting pieces like the Cobra finned valve covers, steel braided lines with AN fittings, and an MSD 6AL digital ignition. We have the build docs and dyno sheet to show that this makes a whopping 335 horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque. The 2.5-inch exhaust pipes help sing this enhanced V8's mighty tune, and when you want to bring the thunder, there are even cutouts. And you are in the best control of the power and rumble thanks to an upgrade to a five-speed manual transmission featuring a Centerforce clutch. As you look underneath, the clean style showcases upgrades like the subframe connector and traction bars for added driving confidence. Plus, power steering, a Wilwood brake master cylinder, front discs, and wide BF Goodrich T/As are all about delivering a solid experience on the road.

You've fantasized about a first-year fastback that's the right mix of style and driver fun, and so this one gets to make your dream a reality. Don't miss this deal. Call now!
