GREAT PAINT, 302CI MOTOR, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, VERY CLEAN PICKUP
This 1976 Ford F-100 pickup is ready for whatever comes next. You need an affordable hauler that looks great and doesn't cost a lot of cash? Excellent choice. Looking for an affordable hobby vehicle with a sweet-running 302 and a trick custom interior? Still an excellent choice. Or maybe you want something that can do a little bit of both, have fun on weekends and still do a few chores around the house. And again, this Ford delivers in a big way.
The dark green section on this truck is its original color, but when it was repainted a few years ago, it got a flashy two-tone treatment that looks period-correct and works really well. These trucks have a classic simplicity to their look and if you look up "pickup truck" in the dictionary, you'll probably see one just like this. But most trucks still working for a living don't look this good, so you know it was retired and treated right. Bodywork is quite straight and as a southern truck, you know major rust issues are not going to be a problem. Painting the top to contrast with the bodywork is an old-school look that still works well on this '76 model, and they did a particularly nice job detailing the tailgate. Fresh chrome bumpers add a great shot of eye candy and the simple grilles are so nice they must be reproductions or even NOS. The bed is protected by a spray-in bedliner, and you can see form its condition that this truck isn't afraid to work now and then.
At first glance, the interior looks pretty stock. But get a little closer and you'll see that the custom seat cover and dash pad are wrapped in cool green ostrich skin upholstery that gives it a subtle, custom look. That's the original bench underneath, and the factory gauges, steering wheel, and glove box are in good shape. New door panels were probably installed at the same time along with green floor coverings that are now protected by some heavy-duty floor mats. An Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo was stuffed into the dash and still sounds decent using the stock speaker locations and you'll note that this truck has factory A/C, although it's not currently hooked up. Since so much of the interior is recent, nothing really stands out as looking too old and the seat cover in particular looks quite fresh.
The 302 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt about 800 miles ago, so it's fresh and ready to enjoy. With great torque that's ideal for a pickup, the stout small block remains an entertaining powerplant with bulletproof reliability. The original air cleaner still lives up top and feeds the original Autolite carburetor, so it's not a radical build that will be problematic down the road. The valve covers were color-matched to the bodywork for a subtle custom look and with power steering and brakes, you know this truck is easy to drive. Stock exhaust manifolds feed a single Flowmaster muffler, so it has that great 5.0 V8 sound without the annoying drone on the highway. There's also a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and stock 9-inch rear end with what we believe to be 3.70 gears inside. Painted steel wheels give it an industrial-strength look that works rather well and it rolls on 235/75/15 blackwall radials.
Coming out of long-term ownership, this nicely finished Ford needs nothing to do its job and offers a great look for the guy looking to enjoy the old car hobby on weekends, too. Call now!
