Owning a classic Chevy is like being invited into a relatively exclusive club. With millions of enthusiasts worldwide, few things in life turn heads or garner questions or thumbs up quite like one of GM's historical highlights. One look at this fully and uniquely repainted gray 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, and it's easy to see what all the fuss is about. Highlighted by its distinctive chrome accents, Bel Air trim, and upgraded 15-inch Weld Racing wheels, this '55 shows why it kicks off the public's love affair with Tri-Five Chevys.
Inside, we find a nicely redone, matching gray leather interior. With comfy front buckets borrowed from a late-model Pontiac, the driver's seat is power-adjustable. At the same time, a tilt column holds a leather-wrapped four-spoke Grant sport steering wheel. Beyond that sits an upgraded set of white-faced AutoMeter gauges that, beyond the big tach and speedo, include an offset volt and fuel gauge beside the modern Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit. A billet insert perfectly complements this Chevy's newer carpet and door panels.

When we pop this car's rear-hinged hood, we find an expansive and clean engine bay featuring a rebuilt 400 cubic-inch V-8 engine that we are told has been bored out to 406 cubic inches. Feeding fuel to this beast is a matching Edelbrock intake and single four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor which is then sent through the block and out of a set of long tube headers before a dual exhaust and sweet-sounding set of Dynomax mufflers announce this car's presence everywhere it goes.
HIGHLIGHTS:
• 406 CID V8 (appox 300 miles on rebuild)
• Edelbrock Intake
• Edelbrock 4 Barrel Carb
• Long Tubes w/ Dynomax Mufflers
• TH400 Three Speed Auto w/ Trans Cooler
• Ford 9 Inch Rear w/ 4.33 Gears
• Power Disc Brakes
• Power Steering
• Leather Interior
• Tilt Column
• Pioneer Head Unit
• Weld Racing Wheels
With only around 300 miles on this car's rebuilt engine to go along with its rebuilt TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, complete with trans cooler and temperature gauge, this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is ready for plenty of Power Tours and cruising to nowhere in particular. The addition of power steering and four-wheel power disc brakes to go along with those Weld Wheels and staggered 215/70R-15 front and 22560R-15 rear Hercules rubber ensures this car will be capable of weaving through downtown traffic or out on the open highway.
