Description
Special editions are nothing new to Corvette fans, but this 2004 Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition offers a lot more than special paint and graphics to go along with its limited production status (this is #544 of 2025 built). Starting with a supercharged LS6, it's a near-seamless blend of awesome good looks and hardcore performance.
The "fixed-roof coupe" was a late addition to the C5 lineup, ostensibly to provide a platform for the take-no-prisoners Z06 model. Lighter, stiffer, and stronger, it was the ultimate expression of Corvette performance. The Commemorative Edition celebrates back-to-back wins at Le Mans with special Le Mans Blue paint and graphics that emulate the C5R models that were used on the track. In short, it's tasteful and attention-grabbing without being over-wrought like some earlier special models. With just 35,666 original miles, it has obviously been in the care of true Corvette enthusiasts since it was new and the only real exterior deviation is the addition of a very cool vented carbon fiber hood that's painted like the original to blend in seamlessly. Finish quality is extremely nice and all the Z06 details are there, including the mesh screens on the nose and the brake cooling ducts just ahead of the rear wheels. This is one Corvette that walks (relatively) softly and carries a big stick.
The only interior you could get with a Z06 was black leather, but that's just fine with us since it looks so impressive. The Commemorative Editions received special embroidery on the headrests, but otherwise it was standard C5 fare, but that also means it's comfortable enough for cross-country travel and spacious enough for all your gear. Everything works as it should, including ice cold dual-zone A/C, power windows, locks, and driver's seat, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system. There's minimal wear and certainly it's in line with the mileage, and the carpets have been protected from new by a set of matching black floor mats. Given the supercharged V8 up front, there are carbon-fiber-faced boost and fuel pressure gauges on the A-pillar, and they're so nicely integrated that you almost don't notice they're there. The Z06 also offers a good-sized trunk that's fully lined in black carpet, meaning that you can use this Corvette like a real car should that be your intention.
The Z06's LS6 V8 made a very stout 405 horsepower in stock form, but this one was professionally upgraded with a Magnuson supercharger with intercooler, boosting that figure to more than 510. Of course, the polished supercharger wasn't just slapped on there, the rest of the mechanicals were upgraded to cope with the added performance, including a MagnaCharger intercooler, stainless Kooks headers, a Stealth 2 camshaft, and a Vararam cold air intake. A big DeWitt Racing aluminum radiator keeps everything cool and stainless Borla mufflers give it a spectacular engine note that certainly seems right for the starting grid at Le Mans. A few dress-up parts like fully polished covers mean that it's more than just potent, it's also beautiful, and that carbon-fiber hood helps vent heat to keep it nice and cool. The standard 6-speed manual transmission uses a Hurst shifter to eliminate missed shifts in the heat of battle, and the front wheels were upgraded to 18-inchers to put more rubber on the ground. Oversized 275/35/18 front and 305/35/18 rear drag radials give it serious bite whether you're going straight or around corners.
A very impressive machine with all-around performance, this rare and very civilized Corvette at a very reasonable price. Call today!
