RARE INDY 500 PACE CAR, 350 L48 V8, AUTO TRANS, PWR STEER/FRNT DISC, CONVERTIBLE

A nice Camaro will be welcome at any local car show, but there are a select few that also get invited to take center stage. This is one of those classics. It's an ultra-desirable 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Indy 500 Pace Car convertible. It not only shows all the right pieces of the Z11 factory pace car replica, but it's also presented in a bright and correct style, right down to the V8 under the hood. So it has been meticulously restored to make sure it will instantly be the showpiece of your garage.

We love the Indy 500 Pace Car because it combines the love for the first-gen icon with an even longer-standing performance legend. The Z11 on the trim tag represents the full pace car option with the RS/SS, and while Chevrolet said they were going to send these to all 6,400 dealers, only 3,675 were made - so it's a true rarity. And even when you do find one, few have been restored to this level of accuracy. The Dover White paint is smooth to the touch, and the Hugger Orange stripes are boldly painted on top. Plus, the pace car decals on the door could still lead a race today. And the right desirable details are in place, including the RS hidden headlights, cowl hood, and the Hugger ...

And the right desirable details are in place, including the RS hidden headlights, cowl hood, and the Hugger Orange pinstripes highlighting the 1969 car's unique fender lines. When you're checking out all these special elements, don't overlook that this car also has its fundamentals correct. The bumpers and trim shine brightly, the folding roof is pristine, and the Rally wheels are the correct 14-inch size. While this does not show any history of being one of the cars used at the Indy 500, it has been outfitted with dual flag poles and flags even come with the sale. So we bet you'll even be asked to lead a parade or two.

These always look terrific with the top down, because the orange houndstooth interior is so distinct. And you'll love all the classic details, right down to the button-top seatbacks and wood-like trim. Front bucket seats with headrests and a tilt steering column are the kinds of features that remind you this car was built to be a driver. After all, cloth seats in a convertible are always desirable, and high-traffic areas like the carpeting and steering wheel are done in black. This also has the makings for a comfortable cruiser with a power convertible top, upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo in the glove box, and even provisions for air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) And your favorite feature might just be the trunk. The inner trunk lid has a signature that's believed to be 1969 Indy 500 winner Mario Andretti (there's even a picture to help support this.)

The under the hood is the year-correct 350 cubic inch V8 with the right production date to be in sync with the body. This L48 powerplant came rated from the factory at 300 horsepower, which made it the most powerful small blocks of its time. And because you're going to spend a lot of time showing off this Camaro, the engine bay is ready to be showcased. It looks factory-correct with all the right pieces, including the Chevy orange on the block and valve covers. There's even the pan around the air grabber for the proper cowl induction hood setup. This was built to be a good all-around driver, and so you have a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and front disc brakes. So it really is easy to have this one for your parade car and/or boulevard cruiser.

The sale comes complete with a documents binder. This is a well-presented Z11 pace car that is ready to hit the road and get you noticed. Call today!!!
