GR8 RUNNING 389 V8, 4-SPEED MANUAL TRANS, PWR STEER/4-WHEEL DISC, DUAL EXHAUST!!

You're looking at a real-deal 1964 Pontiac GTO convertible. Yes, this drop-top was one of the first few that were snuck out the door to prove to Detroit that all of America loved the idea of a big V8 motor in a lighter package. And because this car is so significant you'll love to see its original in the right places, like the motor and four-speed trans. This also has the right well-integrated upgrades like four-wheel disc brakes to go with an already highly optioned car. The result is a rare classic that was made for those who love to drive.

This is a genuine first-year GTO, so everyone at the car shows can thank your convertible for starting the muscle car craze. But more than just history, you'll love the level of care and investment that has gone into the granddaddy of all big power cars. Black is always a great color for a muscle machine. While this was born this intimidating color, it has been refreshed later in life to still give a good shine today. The panels align well, the brightwork is complete, and the black convertible top fits snugly. So you have a rare car that has a terrific driver-quality sense...and that's why this one was really made to be enjoyed. You see ... Please ask for the full description.

You see that on the upgraded set of Coys wheels. They not only give you added polish, but they allow you to fit the upgraded brakes and more modern rubber. This one showcases them with the red calipers and classic-style redline tires.

Not only are the hints of red a great aggressive touch for the exterior, but it's also nice coordination with the full red interior. So you'll love showing off this full package to the world. We have the reproduction window sticker that shows how this was born quite a luxurious machine. After all, seldom do you find a factory power driver's seat outside of a Cadillac. Plus, you have power windows and a power convertible top. A rare duo that means you never have to leave the driver's seat when you want to open this one up to the world. This also has provisions for great features like an upgraded stereo and air conditioning (they will just need servicing to function again.) And of course, a GTO makes for a great driver's machine. The sports style steering wheel has power steering and is on a tilt column. From this view you start to see some very cool features. The machine-turned dash console is a hallmark of the GTO, and it's the perfect home for the original components such as the speedo and tach. Just below it is a full set of auxiliary gauges. More than just a loaded presentation, there is true distinction here. All first-year GTOs were rare, but the convertible was the rarest and most expensive with less than 6,700 made for this inaugural run. So you know how difficult it will be to find a better optioned or more complete example of this 55+ year-old true classic.

The 389 cubic-inch V8 in the engine bay is what started the revolution. That's why they made sure to keep this numbers-matching motor looking as factory as possible. It's still properly dressed in the Pontiac light blue block and shiny valve covers. Even the correct Carter four-barrel carburetor is still on top and the original alternator comes with the sale. But originality doesn't mean missing out on care. This includes a new oil pan gasket, clutch, flywheel, motor mounts, rotor cap, and a carb rebuilt were all done within the last few years. It fires up readily as it makes a nice tune out or the newer 2.5-inch dual exhaust. The numbers-matching Muncie M20 four-speed feeds a Positraction rear end, and so you have proper control over this power package. And speaking of control, the four-wheel power disc brakes package with drilled and slotted rotors make for a far more confident feeling on the road.

Such a unique and rare first-year GTO convertible needs to come with the right paperwork. That's why the sale comes with the reproduction window sticker and Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) paperwork. This is the first-year, big-power GTO with all the features you want. So don't let it slip away, call today!
