Of course, Chevrolet wasn't building anything like this spectacular A-body back in 1972. Charcoal Gray Metallic is the current, eye-popping color that adorns this car's muscular flanks, and I can all but guarantee this Chevelle didn't look this good even when it was brand new, and with two stage urethane paint, it'll look this slick for years to come. It's a top driver-quality job that was always meant to for the road, so it's not some $20k show-stopper finish, but there aren't many flaws to speak of and it's a real head-turner that instantly updates the look of this desirable single-headlight Chevelle. Fit and finish are great all around, so nice that it's easy to forget that this is a vintage car fortified with tough-as-nails American steel. Great gaps and straight sheetmetal certainly help with that brand spanking new look (only 5 miles on the build!), and the gloss-black stripes are the perfect complement to the Charcoal finish, elevating this nasty Chevelle to a whole new level of sinister. A blacked-out SS grille, cowl induction hood, and LED headlights with blacked-out turn signals at the flanks set an aggressive tone up front, while the tinted taillights and big SS emblem out back are the last thing you see when this sucker flies by. Thankfully, the builders strayed away from the complete 'murdered-out' look and added just enough chrome to really make this baby bling, including the massive bumpers fore and aft, the outlining brightwork around the grille and lights, shiny side mirrors and door hardware, and flashy metal surrounding the glass and drip rails.

Elegantly modern bucket seats anchor a performance and luxury-oriented interior further improves this nasty Chevelle restomod. Grippy yet supple black vinyl upholstery helps hold you in place for spirited driving and despite the updated look, those seats look right at home here, don't they? Even better, the back seat, door panels, dash topper, and middle console have all been upholstered to match with high-end stitching and taut, supple hides, the headliner above is pulled taut, and the plush carpets below insulate the cabin – so the entire interior has a very cohesive look and feel that's leagues ahead from 100% stock specs. Other upgrades include a full set of AutoMeter digital/analog gauges inside a custom bezel, a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel atop a tilt column, and a horseshoe shifter integrated into the middle console. Options include seatbelts fore and aft, Chevelle-spec floormats, a full Old Air Products A/C system that was cleverly integrated into the dash, and an Alpine AM/FM/CD/AUX/BT head unit that powers a kicking stereo system through aftermarket speakers in the cabin and an amplifier and subwoofer in the trunk. And speaking of the trunk, it was beautifully finished with plush carpets and the stereo equipment and relocated gel cell battery were efficiently mounted out of the way to maximize storage space.

The core of this car, however, remains under the hood, where a beastly Gen IV 6.0L LS V8 was bored and stroked to 408 cubic inches of pure American muscle. Fed through a FiTech fuel-injection system and augmented with a performance cam, PRC aluminum heads, and a Texas Speed TSC cold-air intake system, the low mileage stroker motor puts down big horsepower and torque and is exciting up-and-down the throttle. The engine bay presentation is just as dialed-in as the rest of the car, with lots of polished aluminum and chrome components, painted inner fenders, and a smoothed and painted firewall. A satin black intake cover matches the valve covers and cold-air intake tube, and the Holley serpentine belt system and aluminum radiator with dual electric fans add further bling and loads of reliability to this custom build. The burly 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission has a much-desired overdrive gear and feeds a 10-bolt posi-traction rear end out back, while long-tube headers feed a custom 3-inch exhaust system with throaty Flowmaster mufflers, so the soundtrack is beefy and mean. Solid, clean floors boast how clean this Chevy really is, and there are freshly upgraded suspension components everywhere you look, from the tubular A-arms, sway bar, and QA1 coilovers up front to the 4-link, sway bar, and QA1 coilovers out back. Responsive power steering and CPP power front disc brakes ensure modern performance on the road, and the rolling stock rides on a flashy set of 20-inch US Mags wrapped in staggered 245/30/20 front and 295/30/20 rear performance radials.
