GREAT CRUISING DROP TOP! 302 V8, AUTO, POWER STEER/BRAKES, FRONT DISC, SHARP!

This 1968 Mercury Montego MX convertible gives you all the right vintage premium style. After all, it has a clean look inside and out, proper V8 power, and thoughtful touches that make it an upper-market and rarer Mercury.

1968 was a radical design departure for Ford's family of the intermediate line of cars. The vertical quad headlights of the previous year were now turned horizontal and integrated into a new full-width chrome grille. And the profile had flared fenders and better Coke-bottle curves. Cardinal Red is the same as Ford's Candyapple, and so it looks good on a sporty drop-top - especially when given a quality respray like this. So the good gloss shows off well-fitting panels. The Mercury line sold fewer than its Fairlane siblings, especially in the Montego's upper-level MX trim. In fact, there were less than 3,300 convertible versions made this year, and that's a drop in a bucket considering this was Detroit's heyday. Not only do you get the distinction of rarity, but also a more sophisticated style. The exclusive grille looks European-inspired, the rockers carry a dark wood-like trim, and the form-hugging chrome bumpers have a bright style. But this premium drop-top ...

But this premium drop-top also knows how to show off some sporty style. The hood scoop, GT-style wheels, and dual exhaust tips look great. And the feeling of premium and performance come together with the full-length stripes that coordinate so well with the tight-fitting convertible top.

The roof powers down to reveal a black interior, and so you have a well-coordinated style with the top up or down. The first impression is pure vintage cool. It's in the nicely pleated seats with bright embedded trim. There's even plenty more of the wood-like trim to coordinate with the exterior, and you have an AM/FM radio with a separate 8-track. And this is a factory air conditioning convertible (it's blowing cold but the blend doors/vents may need servicing.) You'll even appreciate the little things, like the working courtesy lights and the Mercury crest in the center of the steering wheel. Plus, it's a proper driver's package with front bucket seats with a center console and floor shift in-between.

A premium Mercury also means premium Ford power, and so this was optioned with a 302 cubic-inch V8, and this still carries the correct F-code spec. It continues to have the strong-running nature these motors have earned at Ford, and the dual exhaust has the right tune for a great cruiser. Speaking of driving, the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, front discs, and wide BF Goodrich tires all come together to make for a good all-around experience.

This Mercury Montego MX is one of those cars you might not have thought about before, but now that you see it, you'll never forget it. So hurry up, because at this value price, it's going to its new home soon. Call today!!!
