This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS underwent a nut and bolt restoration earlier this year. People may think you did a restoration with a modern color. After all, the Shadow Gray with black SS stripes is that perfect dark-on-dark attitude that so many new muscle machines are going for today. And the black vinyl roof perfectly complements it all. But this coupe is not a modern interpretation, it was born this way! The reason why everything looks so fresh is because the full frame-off restoration was only completed only this year, and there is less than 275 miles on the car since then. It's a serious investment in quality that means exceptional sheetmetal – so you get to fully enjoy the fastback profile, form-fitting chrome bumpers, and well-creased fenders. And of course, we love all the sporty details like the hood pins, all the SS badging, and the 14-inch SS Mag-style wheels. And yes, that's a true cowl induction hood! The LS6 is so coveted by collectors because this was the only year Chevy offered it in the Chevelle before insurance regulation killed off this monster motor. That's why it's important to have a date-correct big block professionally built to these performance standards under the hood. That means a 454 cubic-inch V8 with four-bolt main, LS6 solid lifters, and a big Holley four-barrel carburetor on top. Plus, this fresh build has all the right pieces, like the bold orange block, chrome valve covers, and intake diaphragm sealing to the cowl induction hood. And you control it all with the strong Muncie M22 Rock Crusher four-speed manual transmission. The power is unmistakable the moment you fire up the V8 and the dual exhaust makes its presence known. But don't just listen to the rumble, follow its path in the undercarriage photos. There you can appreciate how thorough the restoration is, right down to the red oxide paint underneath.
