Description

DESIRABLE BODY STYLE, 305 V8, TH350 AUTO, PWR STEER/BRAKE, RUN/DRIVES GR8, RETRO

This 1956 Chevrolet Nomad has iconic style, upgraded power, and a great color combo inside & out. So we know you're going to love one of the coolest and rarest grocery-getters of all time.

Everyone loves seeing the iconic raked rear hatch and wraparound glass that made for one of the most prolific icons of the 1950s. These were the top-of-the-line Chevys that ran with the Bel Air coupes, and so these came with a lot of intricate brightwork. Thankfully all of these hard to source pieces are complete on this one: everything from to the 1956-only grille, to the bright slats protecting the rear hatch. Even those wraparound bumpers appear to be re-chromed. The sweeping side trim on the '56 is an exclusive touch that's the most artful of the Tri-Five era. So it's great to highlight this design element with the distinctive turquoise and white two-tone. Plus, those Corvette-style Rally wheels are a great way to keep the classic Chevy look while also hinting at some extra power under the hood. Less than 8,000 Nomads were produced in 1956, making them a rare Chevy by far (only the Corvette had less.) Now more than 60 years later, you are going to be hard-pressed to find one that is complete as this example.

Inside, the seats and door panels are a custom presentation that continue the exterior two-tone. It's a thoughtful touch that makes this nicely coordinated inside & out. The dash highlights all the classic pieces you love, like the artful steering wheel and a dual cowl design that looks like it was borrowed from the Corvette. Even the correct AM radio is still on display. But your real tunes come from an AM/FM/CD stereo mounted below the dash. That way you can choose your best driving music in your cool-cruising Nomad.

The Tri-Fives were the dawn of the small block era. So it's great to see this history under the hood and looking so honest. But if you dig a little deeper, you'll discover that this is a 305 cubic-inch motor, which is larger than anything offered in the Tri-Five era. Topped with a four-barrel carburetor, it makes a nice upgrade in performance. The dual exhaust does a great job of announcing this V8 power. Plus, they added other great driving features, like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes w/discs up front.

This two-tone Nomad has all the right features to be a fine cruiser, and you know these always get the most respect wherever they show up. So don't let this deal slip away. Call now!
