FULL NUMBERS MATCHING SS 396, RESTORED WITH ALL OEM PARTS, EXCELLENT QUALITY
What you're looking at here is perhaps the most accurate and meticulously restored 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 in existence. With 100% matching numbers, a restoration that used only OEM components, and literally a handful of miles since it was completed, this is quite likely the nicest one on the planet.
With a car of this caliber, you don't mess around with colors and finishes, and instead build it the way the factory intended. That means gorgeous Bolero Red paint right out of the GM color books and complemented by a black vinyl hardtop. Of course, no car rolling off a mass-production assembly line ever looked this good, and that's simply a function of wanting to be the best. All the sheetmetal was straightened, smoothed, and sanded until it was every bit as nice as it was new, then it was reinstalled on the body with infinitely more care to make sure everything was lined up just so. A final wet sand and buff brought out the shine and makes it look like a million bucks. All the correct badges were reinstalled, including the 'Super Sport' script on the rear quarters and the crossed flags up front that are like a warning to the unwise that this is a big block car. No disappointments here.
The interior is every bit as nice as you'd expect, especially with a build-up like this. Black buckets, a center console, and a list of hi-po goodies that make driving a joy all went into the build. And again, everything in this car is genuine GM, not aftermarket, so that means no goofy catalog gauges, no modern radio, and not even a set of cheesy rubber parts store floor mats. Instead you have an ultra-rare factory tach set into the original instrument cluster, which offers bright markings and shows 74,926 original miles. A Chevrolet AM radio lives in the center, right above the ventilation controls, whose levers move with silky smoothness. Then there's the clock set into the console, a cool styling touch, as well as the big chrome shifter for the 4-speed. Seat covers, door panels, headliner, and carpets are all new exact reproductions, and even the trunk is fitted with a fresh mat. There's also a full-sized spare with jack assembly back there.
The engine is the original, numbers-matching 396 cubic inch big block V8 rated at 325 horsepower, which was standard equipment in the 1967 SS 396. Check the numbers and you'll see they were careful not to lose the original stampings in the block when it was rebuilt, and the detailing is show quality throughout. Chevy Orange paint, correct chrome valve covers, reproduction decals, and OEM fasteners make it look better than new and ready to compete at any level. The chassis is as clean as the bodywork, with spectacular floors, detailed chassis components, and a heavy-duty 12-bolt rear end flanked by a reproduction dual exhaust system. If it was originally painted, it got painted; if it was plated, it got plated, and the workmanship is impressive everywhere you look. The only major deviation from original spec are the 215/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials, but they look so good on the factory Rallys that nobody will complain.
Is it the best in the world? I wouldn't bet against it, especially since it includes a ton of documentation to back it up. If you're a stickler for authenticity, this is the Chevelle you've been looking for. Call today!
