The best Corvettes are about pedigree, and this 1967 Corvette Sting Ray coupe carries investment-grade credentials that are beyond impressive. It's an original California car, with all that implies, featuring a matching-numbers 327/300, a ton of luxury options like A/C and power windows, and a stack of paperwork dating back to the original owner. If you're looking for a no-stories mid-year Corvette, few have better resumes than this.

Aside from the '63 split-window coupe, the C2 to own is the '67. While the big blocks get all the attention, I think you'll find that this black-on-black small block car is a spectacular choice that doesn't cost a fortune. The Tuxedo Black paint is recent and lives up to expectations. The restoration was finished in the late-90s and thanks to careful stewardship since then, it remains in spectacular condition. Fit and finish are excellent thanks to a lifetime in California, including an extended period where it was in hibernation, and despite careful use it still looks fresh. Folding headlights work, the chrome sparkles, and all the stainless shows what living in California does for the important parts, because it's all still quite shiny. Heck, even the original glass still has that ideal Soft-Ray tint that's a boon to air-conditioned cars, particularly those with black interiors.

The black interior was freshened when the paint was done, but beyond the usual seat covers, carpets, and other details, this ultra-clean car needed very little. It's quite impressive thanks to a list of very desirable options, including power windows, power steering, and air conditioning. In fact, the A/C was recently serviced, along with the suspension, so it's ready for a road trip. This is one of those rare cars we've had in stock which is highly optioned and even the original AM/FM radio and clock still work! Framed by a woodgrained steering wheel, the original gauges still look good and the center console offers a stubby shifter for the PowerGlide automatic underneath, as well as the power window controls. Nice black carpets line the rear storage area, and their dark color is additional proof that this car has always been stored properly and out of the harsh sun.

The engine is the original, numbers-matching 327 cubic inch V8 rated at 300 horspeower, which makes this Sting Ray a blast to drive. Big block cars seem to catch collectors' eyes, but if you really like to drive, a small block car like this is really a much better choice. The engine bay is very nicely detailed with all its original equipment intact, including the uber-rare California smog pump system and factory A/C components. It starts and runs exactly how you'd expect for a low-mileage car with impeccable service records, and as I mentioned, the suspension offers new shocks and other hardware, so it tracks like a cruise missile on the road. It's quite original underneath, but again, as a California car, a full frame-off restoration was unnecessary and might have destroyed the feel this car has on the road, which is completely impossible to duplicate with a restoration. Classic Rally wheels look flashy and wear correctly-sized 215/70/15 whitewall radials that preserve its '60s look.

Documentation is extremely thorough, ranging from the original Protect-O-Plate to maintenance records dating to the original owner, and registration documents that trace its history almost year-by-year.
