MODIFIED 302 V8, 4SPD TRANS, SINISTER COLOR COMBO, RETRO & AGGRESSIVE, RUNS GR8!

This 1963 Mercury Comet has a wicked style all of its own. With a hot rod appearance and a hot V8 to back it up you're looking at something that, powerful, cool, and distinctive... all for an affordable price.

This coupe has a great origins story where the builder resurrected a car that has been sitting with his cousin and invested a lot on re-building this Comet into a true speed machine. While we'll get to all those details in a moment, take a moment to see how this one really tells its story with its first impression. It has an instant presence with all the right tones for an old-school hot rod build – right down to finish of the matte black paint. The Comet body was built for this speedy look long/thin tailfins, a hardtop profile, sleek full-length trim, and afterburner style taillights. This only gets amplified by the custom details like the hood pins, red flame decals, and matching red-painted mag wheels.

The hints of red on the exterior are also a preview of the full red interior. This is an upscale Mercury, and so you have plenty of bright trim to go with the big red package. Plus, we really like the classic look on everything from the grippy steering wheel to the AM ... Please ask for the full description.

Plus, we really like the classic look on everything from the grippy steering wheel to the AM radio that's still on display. And like a true classic hot rod build, all the right factory elements remain – right down to the nicely trimmed bench seats – but that are also some speedy upgrades surrounding the driver. Items like the crisp auxiliary gauge trio and strong Hurst shifter signal that you're going to like what's under the hood.

One look under the hood and you know this Comet has out-of-this-world power. You're looking at a 5.0-liter V8 borrowed from a Fox body Mustang, and the builder really made a strong investment in rebuilding this motor for power. This includes bored .30 over, Holman Moody camshaft, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, air gap intake, and MSD ignition. It exhales with authority as long tube headers add even more power while contributing to the rumble of the H-pipe Flowmaster dual exhaust. The four-speed manual transmission is built to give you stout control, including a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. We have a long list of more new component for this restoration that was completed in 2017, so call for all the details. The rear end is a rebuilt limited-slip unit with 3.80 gears for all-around versatility. Plus, you also have a nice set of traction bars. Up front there's a thick sway bar and rack & pinion steering. So yes, this is a quality performance build.

Power, distinction, and affordability rarely come together this nicely, so don't miss you chance at this Comet. Call now!
