A 1964.5 Ford Mustang is always going to be one of the most desirable pony cars around, and this one is a one-family owned example. So you have true history wrapped in a highly original and highly desirable total package.

These early run cars all tell a different story. The serial number on this one is going to be one of the highest Dearborn cars around. In fact, the build date on the trim tag is the end of July, and the 1965 cars came around in mid-August! So this car was born at the home of Ford, and it was one of the last few weeks of the earliest cars to launch the legend. There's even more history on its side because we're told this is a two-owner example that has never left the same family. A car like this deserves to be in Wimbledon White it's one of the most iconic cars of this early period, and Ford even used it to show off at the World's Fair. There has been a good respray later in life on this one. Today it has a good gloss that makes for quite a quality driver. The chrome looks good, the trim is complete, the panels are straight, and the details are in place - right down to the wheel covers. So it's a coupe with a story to tell, and it has the right condition to show ... Please ask for the full description.

Description

CLEAN SURVIVOR 64 1/2, 2 OWNER (1 FAMILY), 39K ACTUAL MILES, 170 INLINE 6, 3 SPD

So it's a coupe with a story to tell, and it has the right condition to show its age with pride.

A red interior is always an attention-getter, but this one might just get talked about more for its originality. The upholstery, carpet, and dash have a preserved style. It will be hard to find anything here that's out of place - right down to the three-speed shifter and AM radio that's still there for a display. While we all know that there are plenty of replacement components readily available that can upgrade the interior, it can only be original once. So it's nice to have the opportunity to have such an original setup on such a significant car.

Under the hood is the correct-style U-code 170 cubic-inch inline-six. This is claimed to be a one-family car. As such, the consignor also claims that this is the original motor and that the low odometer reflects the car's full total mileage. We do not have the paperwork to verify this originality, but things do align for an impressive story. After all, this motor has the look of a survivor that has received good care. The consignor even claims a recent carburetor cleaning, a new fuel pump, a new gas tank, a new temp gauge, and a rebuilt generator (a 1964.5 only feature.) There have been other more recent investments like a new clutch, pressure plate, master cylinders, and brakes. It's all about having a true classic that can still be a real cruiser.

The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, a repair manual, a scale model, and some period-correct cool details, like a car-hop tray. The 1964.5 Mustang is a true piece of Americana, and this one has a great story to tell. So if you love a true classic, call today!
