Description

186 INLINE 4, 3 SPEED MANUAL FLOOR SHIFT, 20" WOOD SPOKE WHEELS, COOL 4 DOOR PREWAR!

Bridging the gap between a failing Maxwell Motor Company, which he had acquired, and his eponymous new corporation established in 1925, Walter P. Chrysler and his team of engineers introduced the world to this (then) new 1926 Chrysler 58 Touring we have for you today. Designed to take on Ford's mass-produced vehicles, it's easy to see why this fully repainted green four-door convertible would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection.

Inside and behind the nearly vertical windshield, you are transported back to a simpler time in the autoverse. A four-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel coordinates nicely with the wooden shift knob, while a set of redone vinyl bench seats are surprisingly comfortable for both front and rear passengers. Car radios were still a ways away, so this classic cruiser has a compact dashboard displaying only the most essential information. The original odometer sits in place just about to turn the 22,600-mile mark, and though its most likely not the actual mileage, it still makes for a fun conversation piece.

Raise either side of the louvered steel hood and we find a 186 cubic-inch inline four-cylinder engine that, when new a century ago, produced 38 horsepower. The (then) new Chrysler Corporation boasted that its new vehicle was named the 58 because it could cruise at what must have been a hair-raising 58 mph. That oldest-school power is funneled through a three-speed manual transmission operated by a floor-mounted shifter.

Riding on a tried-and-true leaf-spring suspension, this 1926 Chrysler 58 Touring shows off twenty-inch wheels with 12 wooden spokes, while a set of throwback bias ply tires completes the package. Unlike so many classic cars that seem to appear everywhere, this Chrysler is a rare sight indeed. So, if you want to add a four-door prewar car to your collection that is all but guaranteed to turn heads, and also comes with the significance of being the first model that one of the Big Three introduced to the world, don't wait another second. This 58 Touring has lasted a century, but odds are it won't last long without a new owner, so call today! We can assist you with getting an Extended Vehicle Service Plan from Freedom Warranty, which provides comprehensive coverage that can save thousands of dollars on unexpected repairs.
