Description
For the Beach Boys to write a hit song about an engine, it had to be a special motor attached to a special kind of car. This numbers-matching 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS 409, decked out in a fabulous full bright red repaint, stretches out over its two-door coupe configuration, showcasing its straight lines, shimmering chrome, and dual-triplet taillight arrangement.
Inside, we find a mostly stock restored black vinyl interior. A center console separates the dual bucket seats, while the old-school two-spoke, power-assisted steering wheel is contrasted by the upgraded, cool-blue-hued Dakota Digital dashboard, featuring an 8,000 rpm tachometer and a 160 mph speedometer. Offset to the passenger side of the car is a quartet of matching auxiliary gauges, separated by a centrally-located digital speedometer to complete the look. A Retrosound AM/FM uses a digital display, while the sliding HVAC controls ensure at least some of this Impala's interior stays in the 1960s.
Under that expansive hood, we find out what all the fuss is about. Centered inside a very clean engine bay sits a numbers-matching 409 cubic-inch V-8 engine. Part of Chevy's famous W-series big block motor family, this 409 has been painted old-school orange, with plenty of chrome accents. Topped with a single four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor, spent gases are expelled via a true-dual exhaust setup capped off with a set of chrome exhaust tips. Power is routed through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission before heading out to the factory-style rear end that transfers those ponies to the pavement through a set of beautiful, polished five-spoke American Racing Torq Thrust wheels shod in P235/70R-15 BF Goodrich radials.

This 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 rides on a traditional coil and shock suspension, accompanied by an old-school live axle rear, while power-assisted brakes help rein in speed whenever called upon. So, if owning a 409-powered Impala has been on your bucket list and you've saved your pennies and saved your dimes, then maybe it's time you buy a (not quite) brand new 409! Don't wait, call today!
