Description
If a candy red classic has always been on your list, here's a top-of-the-line example. This 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback looks as good as it runs. Up front, a Shaker hood with full assembly rises above a clean grille and a bright bumper, featuring clear headlights and a lower black front spoiler that completes the aggressive look. Out back, the Mach 1–style rear spoiler, correct taillights, solid bumper, and dual exhaust carry the theme. Along both sides, the fenders, doors, and quarter panels, featuring signature side scoops, show well with only light wear from enjoying the car. Everything ties together perfectly with the classic Magnum 500 wheels.
Inside, the black-on-black interior presents nicely. The front seats are aftermarket TMI bucket seats, paired with a Hurst floor-mounted shifter for quick, easy gear changes. The dashboard is in good condition, and the gauge cluster retains a factory-style layout that appears to use original gauges. An aftermarket steering wheel and premium steering components from CJ Pony Parts complement the upgraded, stock-appearing radio. Below that, the factory climate controls operate a full Classic Auto Air system while retaining the original control panel look. The headliner, carpets, and door panels are all in good condition. The door jambs and sill plates are clean, and the trunk appears to be lined with sound-deadening material and is tidy throughout.
Under the hood sits a strong 351 cubic-inch Windsor V8 topped with a Holley Street Avenger carburetor and Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake. Supporting upgrades include a new fuel system, fresh plugs and wires, a high-flow water pump, and a 4-core aluminum radiator to keep everything running cool and smoothly. Power is sent through a Toploader Ford RUG-E 4-speed manual transmission to an 8-inch rear axle. The suspension retains a factory-style setup and features upgraded power disc brakes at all four corners, with drilled and slotted rotors in the rear. Fifteen-inch Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in 225/60R15 front and 255/60R15 rear tires provide the perfect stance. The exhaust uses stock-style manifolds flowing into dual pipes and glasspack-style mufflers for that unmistakable muscle car sound.
