The 304 cubic inch V8 beneath the hood represents the most displacement of any of the powerplant offerings when this CJ5 first rolled off the line. It's in great form here, surrounded by an array of new belts and hoses, starting up promptly and looking sharp in its newly painted block and valve covers as it sits in a tidy, well-maintained engine compartment. It wears a chrome air cleaner on top, has been outfitted with a new distributor cap and plug wires and teams with a 3-speed manual transmission to make for a very solid, well-functioning drivetrain. When the occasion calls for more surefootedness, the 4-wheel drive feature is easily activated via a lever within easy reach next to the manual shifter on the transmission tunnel.
