Capturing the model at its first generation, open air best, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible wears its original colors both inside and out and carries a period correct powerplant underneath its hood that's likely the very engine it began life with. This classic has been the beneficiary of a skillful restoration that put a central emphasis on aesthetic authenticity and it's looking and running great.
That Hugger Orange shade that's draped over the exterior holds a dual position in vintage Chevy lore, in that not only was the color created specifically for the Camaro, but it actually derives its very name from the Camaro's original sub-moniker “the Hugger”, a reference to the model's wide track and low, street hugging stance. The two-tone paint scheme, with the signature orange shade ornamented by broad white stripes over the hood and deck lid, provides this '69 with a thoroughly authentic appearance - just a quick glance at it will take you back in time. Description
That Hugger Orange shade that's draped over the exterior holds a dual position in vintage Chevy lore, in that not only was the color created specifically for the Camaro, but it actually derives its very name from the Camaro's original sub-moniker "the Hugger", a reference to the model's wide track and low, street hugging stance. The two-tone paint scheme, with the signature orange shade ornamented by broad white stripes over the hood and deck lid, provides this '69 with a thoroughly authentic appearance - just a quick glance at it will take you back in time. From front to back, the chrome exterior fittings are in good shape and the windshield sports nice, clear glass and the array of badging is all in great shape as well - the white of the SS and 350 emblems on the sides and tail light panel really pop against the bright exterior. Should you find yourself out on the road when the weather turns, the power convertible top is also in good form and seals nice and tight.
The interior retains its original configuration as well, with the white of the upholstery contrasting with the black of the dash area and carpeting, the latter of which looks new and features a pair of Chevy-branded floor mats for protection up front. In order to enhance safety as this '69 rolled out, Chevy went to higher backed buckets with added headrests and the pair here are well-positioned for plenty more miles of comfortable use. Take a closer look at the dash area - besides the collection of clear, functional gauges residing in the instrument panel, the dash pad running across the top appears brand new and the woodgrain accents were applied flawlessly. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD player is about the only deviation from stock you'll find inside these doors and, as you take your position in the driver's seat, you'll come into contact with one of Chevy's signature design features of the era - the horseshoe shifter on the center console. You'll find a full-size spare in the trunk, neatly covered to match the fabric lining the floor.
Beneath that striped and sculpted hood is a 350 cubic inch V8 that's very likely the same powerplant this vintage Chevy rolled off the showroom floor with. It sits in a very clean engine compartment with its black air cleaner contrasting with the orange of its block and valve covers, firing up quickly and pulling with plenty of conviction as it sends a clear, resonant note out of its aftermarket mufflers. A 4-barrel carb now sits underneath the air cleaner as this motor teams with a 3 speed automatic TH350 transmission known for its rugged dependability. A set of 14" SS wheels wearing BF Goodrich T/A radials complete the look of this vintage muscle car, sitting over power brakes at all four corners that feature discs up front for fade resistant stops, while featured power steering makes for nice, easy navigation. Below, the undercarriage looks very solid and straight.
Exuding vintage aesthetics and running strong, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible offers the promise of many future fun filled, open air miles. Call today!
