It's often hard to find the words to adequately describe cars as incredible as this 1957 Ford Custom 300 Restomod. Insanely deep black paint, a luxurious and loaded custom leather interior, and a thumping 4.6L Mustang GT V8 drivetrain. Yeah, it's got all the A+ goodies you look for in a high-end restomod. Outstanding in every way, it's a spectacular nut-and-bolt build, recently finished to a very high standard and ready to continue collecting trophies at every show it dominates.

1957 Fords naturally lend themselves to a break in the paint job (the swooping profile trim practically begs for it), so once the body was stripped, any potential issues were resolved, and the metalwork was finished, a spectacular coat of miles-deep PPG Jet Black paint was laid down on the laser straight sheetmetal. And in between that dynamic chrome profile trim, a sparkling Gold finish was added that pays homage to the anodized panels of yesteryear and does a great job to break up that slick black palette just enough. It's instantly appealing and very flashy, but also timeless so this isn't a car that will date itself easily and will look this good years from now. Panel fit is exemplary with even gaps and super straight alignment between the fenders and doors, a critical detail on these Fords due to the dramatic side trim, and the entire body was ceramic coated to protect it from the outside world for a long, long time. And speaking of side trim, it's as dialed-in as you'd expect, providing the perfect line of demarcation down the center of the car. All the chrome was either replace or re-plated and reattached with infinitely more care than the factory ever could manage and all the glass was replaced with new stuff offering a super-cool dark tint. The imposing chrome bumpers are perfect bookends on this Ford, and the dialed-in vertical grille and clear parking lights up front set the tone for the entire car. Modern headlights light the way and there's really not much you can do to make Ford's jet-like taillights any cooler, so they were merely polished and reinstalled under the fins where they belong.

The custom red leather interior is equally stunning, installed by pros that integrated several pieces from a late-model Mustang, and that combination of old and new is so seamless you can't really find the line. Those are modern bolstered buckets (the driver's seat is power actuated) wrapped in super-soft red leather hides with matching ornate door panels and a custom center console created to match using elements from a modern Mustang. The blacked-out dash is a completely bespoke piece, combining the original '57 metal with late-model pieces from the same donor Mustang GT that supplied the drivetrain, and between the modern steering wheel and driver's cockpit, along with the center stack and console, the combination is brilliant. Distant eras colliding to create a cabin that's both high on form and function. Anyone familiar with the 'New Edge' Mustang GTs will quickly recognize the gauge set-up ahead of the driver, along with the controls for the power windows/locks, and for the modern 'Old Air' R134a A/C system and AM/FM/Cassette/CD units in the center stack. The rear bench seat was upholstered to match and is fantastic condition like the rest of the cabin, matched by the taut headliner above and plush red carpets below. Out back, the big trunk was restored to match the interior, using the same stylish side panels and plush carpets found inside the fully-insulated cabin.

The engine under the hood is a 4.6L DOHC 32 Valve V8 - you know, like the kind that propel Mustangs to warp speeds – and it makes this handsome custom a fantastic cruiser on the open road. Like the rest of the car, the engine bay was built to show, starting with the custom 'Midnight Special' cover on the engine block, finned valve covers, and that polished cold air intake system and coned filter that helps it breathe easy and sparkle. A new computer and late-model electrical system provides instant throttle response, and modern wiring and plumbing give this '57 great dependability out on the open road. Power 4-wheel disc brakes and a Mustang power rack-and-pinion steering system give it a new-car feel on the road, and the highly detailed chassis was built to be driven not just shown, with a burbling Magnaflow H-pipe dual exhaust system, quick-shifting 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, and heavy-duty rear end. The stance was set perfectly atop the Mustang front and rear suspension, and with all new shocks, springs, and ball joints the ride quality is beautiful. Finishing the look, the wheel wells were stuffed full of blacked-out 18-inch Boss wheels, all of which were wrapped in brand new 225/50/18 Cooper radials.
