Serious performance and grand touring luxury were the hallmarks of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 454. And this 1972 tribute example only amplifies those attitudes with its custom body finished in modern shimmering paint, a comfy A/C interior, and a performance-built big block that could outrun anything from '72. So dig into the all the details of this impressive total package.
This coupe is an upgrade from the original, so you want a paint that let's everyone know that. That's why we love this gorgeous shade of silver. It has deep shine that comes from a more modern and professional paint application. It gives this car a radiant personality that's amplified by the hand-built custom cowl hood. We think the aggressive power bulge and cool dark insert really sets the tone for this powerful Monte. More shine on this coupe comes from the mirror-like polish on areas like the well-integrated chrome bumpers, full rocker trim, and exclusive Monte Carlo badging. This idea of aggression and premium shine perfectly comes together on the classic Cragar racing wheels.

This idea of aggression and premium shine perfectly comes together on the classic Cragar racing wheels.
The dual attitude of performance and luxury continues inside. For example, the black interior is what you want on a muscle car, and the bucket seat option means the driver gets true individual luxury. We all love the look of the desirable center console. Not only is the burled walnut simulated wood paneling seen there repeated across the entire SS-style dash, but also the iconic horseshoe shifter gives this luxury interior some sporty flair. The same goes for the upgrades like the sports steering wheel, oil pressure gauge on the A-pillar, and the column-mounted shift light. While this is truly a driver's machine, it also has the space to share with family and friends. That's why this classic also accommodates with everything from a modern 1200-watt AM/FM/CD stereo to cold factory air conditioning.
The moment you open the hood, you instantly realize that this Monte Carlo earns all of its aggressive upgrades. Sure, a few lucky ones had the big 454 V8 in '72, but nothing was as ferocious as this. Within the dark and tidy engine bay, you'll notice great pieces like the ribbed valve covers and the diaphragm to give this a true performance cowl induction. Beneath the surface, the 454 was bored out .60. More than just extra displacement, the V8 also has go-fast goodies such as a Holley double pumper four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, MSD ignition, and Hooker long tube headers that feed a growling H-pipe dual exhaust. The 12-bolt rear end with Positraction is great for staying hooked to the pavement. Plus, the suspension has received Hotchkis upgrades, such as the sway bars front and rear. To make sure you can keep the easy-cruising attitude of the Monte Carlo, you also have power steering, front disc brakes, and a stout TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with electronic overdrive.
You can tell there has been a ton of time, thought, and money invested in restoring this unique Chevy. It even comes with the owner's manual and restoration photos. So when you can get your hands on something that's equal parts vintage luxury and muscle car, you know you have to hurry on something this special. Cal now!
