Description

RARE VERT, 250 CI, PRESTOMATIC FLUID DRIVE TRANS, POWER TOP, VERY COMPLETE & CORRECT, NICE!

This 1950 Chrysler Windsor Highlander Convertible is a rare classic, with only about 2,200 Windsor convertibles built in 1950. It's a true survivor from an era when most vehicles were designed and built like tanks. That solid construction leaves plenty of room for this car's red paint to shine, the huge whitewalls to stand out, and the chrome bumpers, shiny trim, and polished hubcaps look awesome in the sun or under the lights. The front grille is big and bold, the black convertible top looks stunning against the red paint, and the rear chrome bumper looks like it could withstand a rear-end collision without harm.

The interior remains mostly stock and is still in good shape. The bench seats are upholstered in two-tone red with a combination of vinyl and cloth material. You get the classic '50s oversized steering wheel with a column shifter. The gauge cluster appears original and is in decent condition. A large speedometer and odometer sit at the center, surrounded by four smaller gauges: Oil, Heat, Fuel, and Amps. Additional features include an AM radio, heater and defrost controls, a small clock, and a locking glove box. The power convertible top is controlled from inside, allowing you to drop it with ease whenever the mood strikes.

Under the hood sits Chrysler's L-Head Spitfire 251 cubic-inch flathead inline-six. This Windsor Highlander is equipped with a Prestomatic 4-speed transmission, which combines both manual and automatic functions. It uses a manual gearbox, but thanks to Chrysler's Fluid Drive system, the car can slow to a stop and accelerate again without using the clutch. Power is sent to a stock-style solid axle rear end with leaf springs, while the front suspension features independent control arms and coil springs. Braking is handled by drum brakes at all four corners, with 7.6-15 tires wrapped in American Classic whitewalls.
