Description

FRESH 5.3L LS V8 SWAP, 4L60E, 10-BOLT, 4.10 LOCKER, SLICK RESPRAY, SHARP S-10!!!

Chevy never put a V8 in the S10 pickup, but looking at this 2000 Chevrolet S10, you'd never know it. With a very sanitary 5.3 liter installation, all the bells and whistles, and a high-visibility look, it's the sport truck you wish GM would build. Well, here it is, ready to go and you just won't believe the attention this thing attracts when you pop the hood.

These were handsome trucks and if you're going to build the ultimate S10, you may as well start with an extended cab for comfort. A cowl induction hood and a custom bumper from a Silverado reworked to fit the smaller S10 give it a distinctive look that still looks OEM. Viper Red paint is anything but subtle, and it was applied just last year so it looks fantastic. This was obviously a straight truck to begin with and the guys doing the work knew their stuff because it looks like it should cost a lot more than it does. Most of the original emblems and badges were reinstalled to maintain the OEM vibe, although folks are bound to notice the twin tailpipes sticking out through the rear roll pan. Smoked headlights, a tonneau cover, and a set of hood pins finish it off. And it still works as a truck, thanks to a drop-in bed liner that looks completely untouched.

They kept the interior largely stock, which further enhances the OEM vibe of the whole truck. It's also a comfortable place to hang out, with supportive cloth bucket seats, lots of stretch-out room thanks to the extended cab, and a long list of options: cold A/C, power windows and locks, a tilt steering column, and cruise control. The carpets have been replaced but the rest is original and in great condition, so it reinforces the idea that this was a nice truck before the work started. All the original gauges work with the new engine, and there's a transmission temperature gauge neatly installed below the center stack. The factory AM/FM/CD stereo sounds decent and there's a neat bit of storage behind the seats so your gear doesn't have to stay unsecured in the bed.

A GM 5.3 liter Vortec V8 was professionally installed and the workmanship makes it look like the factory did it themselves. Using all the OEM parts makes it as reliable and easy to service as a stocker, but we'll bet you clear out the service department when you show up in this cool S10. There's a mild cam inside, but otherwise it's stock and thanks to a professional tune, it starts, idles, and drives like an OEM piece. No extra flash under the hood, no custom additions, just a dedication to making it look authentic, and we like that a lot. The transmission is a smooth-shifting 4L60E 4-speed automatic, which feeds a 10-bolt rear end with 4.10 gears and a locking differential inside, so this little truck is shockingly quick. There are fewer than 5000 miles on the drivetrain, so it will last practically forever and there's a drop-dead gorgeous stainless exhaust system underneath. Traction bars help it hook up, along with a set of fat radials on chrome Torque Thrust-style wheels.

Sleepers like this are insanely cool. It looks OEM, drives like a factory piece, and feels fully engineered, but since its one of none, it's always going to attract attention. Call today!
