VERY SLICK W/ JUST 10K MILES ON THE BUILD! 2165cc, 4 SPD MAN, 4 WHEEL DISC, WOW!

Ah, the lovable VW Beetle. You've probably spent the last 20 years thinking you could always pick one up for pennies and just never got around to it. Well, the day has finally come when top-of-the-line examples like this 1970 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible are no longer just disposable transportation, they're legitimate collectors' items. And they're still just as much fun as they were back in the good old days. Featuring a recently completed and comprehensive restoration that reinforced the body, chassis, and suspension, this little red droptop is now highlighted by a professionally built 2165cc engine, a quick shifting 4-speed manual transmission, and a disc brake at every corner. So, not only does it look fantastic in its bright red livery and vintage good looks, it's got all the right hardware to back it up.

That vivid red paint is a great choice for a VW Beetle, bright, cheerful, and highly visible - and when this Bug was repainted not long ago (only 10,053 miles on the build!), they really nailed the vintage VW vibe. It's a great color, bold and vibrant without being too soft, and it would probably look equally as comfortable at the head of a parade, sunbathing on the beach, or ...

It's a great color, bold and vibrant without being too soft, and it would probably look equally as comfortable at the head of a parade, sunbathing on the beach, or cruising down Main Street on the way to the grocery store, because a dialed-in Beetle droptop like this is simply timeless. Despite their affordable price, Bugs were always rather well-built little cars and even the convertibles like this one feel durable and tight. Gaps are factory-exact, the doors fit with a solid 'thud', and the body fits together quite well with a brilliant shine to the borderline show-quality paint. It's not completely perfect because it's hard to resist driving a Beetle convertible on a sunny day, but it's a very high-end driver with very few minor imperfections to speak of, and most importantly it looks authentic and that's really what matters most. The black rubber running boards are in great condition, punctuated by bright chrome accents all-around them, and the rest of the shiny brightwork bits are obviously all new or freshly re-chromed as well because the bling on this car is impressive. The wrap-around chrome bumpers lend it an old-fashioned look that's all a part of the Beetle's enduring appeal, a 3rd brake light was integrated into the rear license plate, and the dual exhaust tips jutting out from under the rear bumper hint at a little something extra under the rear bonnet.

The all-new sporty interior is a perfect mixture of aftermarket components and time-honored vintage Beetle fare, with Corbeau high-back bucket seats wrapped in some of the most durable man-made materials ever invented. Matching door panels were replaced at the same time the rest of the work was done, same goes for the reproduction carpets below, and the rear seat was matched perfectly to the Corbeaus up front so the entire has a very all-together feel. The spirit of VW's simple instrument panel was retained, albeit the engineering has vastly improved with a set of gauges from Speedhut, including the GPS-calibrated digital-analog speedometer, matching tachometer, and a more accurate fuel gauge. The vintage 4-speed shifter will feel familiar to anyone who has ever owned a Beetle before, and with a little practice, you'll be shifting like a pro, while the dual-ring steering wheel is original-spec and feels wonderful in the hands of the driver. The forward bonnet is nicely finished with a carpeted mat that and it houses a full-size spare tire and jack set that could very well be the car's original unit. And there's a fresh black convertible top with glass rear window and headliner, giving the VW a far more expensive feel than you'd expect at this price level.

The air-cooled flat four under the rear bonnet is a bit more robust than your usual VW powerplant, and has been punched out to a powerful 2165cc and inhales through a pair of Weber 44 IDF carbs. Experts will spot note plenty of performance goodies, including a high-domed aluminum case for the motor, forged crank, Mahle forged pistons, an Engle cam, copper head-gaskets, and a 40mm intake just to name a few, and all the work was completed by the pros at Pierce Automotive in San Antonio, so you can have plenty of confidence when you're running it hard. It runs superbly and moves the lightweight bodywork with genuine gusto, and with reinforced rails, pans, and front and rear clips, the body feels nothing like a convertible when you're flicking it into the corners. With approximately 2000 miles on the engine and 4-speed manual gearbox, it's still quite fresh and ready to go. The lowered stance looks awesome thanks to dropped-spindles below, and because of the fresh suspension components found throughout, the ride-quality is great. This Beetle also offers four-wheel disc brakes, a worthwhile upgrade on a car that's considerably faster than your average economy car, and the exhaust note is downright erotic with a custom Vintage Speed 42mm stainless steel exhaust providing the soundtrack. Staggered 'Spirit of America' minilite-style wheels are an awesome look and wear grippy 145/65/15 front and 185/55/15 rear Pirelli performance radials.

Fully sorted and wickedly fast, this neat little droptop Bug is a lot of fun to drive and has a custom look that will get attention all out of proportion to its sticker price. Better act fast, call today!
