HUGE BANG FOR THE BUCK! FULLY BUILT DRIVE TRAIN! 2003 COBRA 4.6L, 5 SPD, CAGE

If you want to go fast on a budget, the name of the game is Mustang. This 2002 Mustang GT is full of hardcore components that probably cost more than the entire car, and it has been professionally built and tuned by some of the most respected names in the business. If you're looking for a reliable, powerful, fully sorted street/strip Mustang, you'll be hard-pressed to find a bigger bang for the buck anywhere else.

OK, so even in silver, this GT isn't exactly subtle. Although the body is unmodified save for some custom SVT Cobra badges and a trick hood, there's no doubt this pony has been eating its Wheaties. Fortunately, even though it's been pumped up under the skin, this GT still presents very well, even if it does show some age that's commensurate with the mileage. The factory paint is still clear and bright and shows like a solid driver, the front fascia hasn't been too badly scuffed and nicked on the highway, and with the deletion of the rear spoiler and addition of that aggressive hood scoop and matte black stripe up front, this GT has a real tough look. Obviously, someone really cared about this car, and despite the massive horsepower factory under the hood, it has not been abused, ... Please ask for the full description.

Obviously, someone really cared about this car, and despite the massive horsepower factory under the hood, it has not been abused, resulting in a clean, accident-free Vehicle History report. The headlights are still crystal clear, the taillights are bright, and all the body kit accents are still place, with the rocker skirts and profile scoops adding to the tough look of this modern classic.

Inside, there are sporty improvements abound, as this GT now comes with supportive racing-style bucket seats, RCI 5-point seat belts, and an 8-point roll cage that stiffens the body and makes it race-ready. The seats are wrapped in grippy black upholstery that shows only very minor comfort marks but no damage or other issues, again indicative of a caring owner that managed to be conscientious while hammering down the throttle. GTs were loaded with equipment, including power windows, locks, and mirrors, plus goodies like cruise control and a tilt wheel. And although this car was born with A/C, it was stripped to avoid pulling any horses from the motor, although it could easily be replaced with another factory unit in the future. Upgrades include white-faced GT gauges in the dash plus a trio of auxiliary gauges mounted on the A-pillar, including a wide-band air-fuel ratio monitor, boost, and coolant temperature gauges from Auto Meter. And with all that power under the hood, you need a transmission that's up to the task, which is exactly why a freshly-built T45 5-speed manual transmission was swapped-in, along with an 8-ball topped short shifter that now manages the gears. A double-din Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo with USB/iPod interface takes the place of the factory unit, and it powers an explosive stereo system that includes a trunk-mounted subwoofer and amplifier. The rear seat was deleted to shed weight and make room for the roll cage, and the trunk is filled with a rear-mounted battery that both improves weight distribution and makes way for the big motor up front.

The big motor in question is a fully balanced 4.6L V8 from a 2003 Cobra, and it's been packed to the gills with performance goodies. Beefed up with a forged Cobra crank, forged Manley pistons and rods, King main and rod bearings, and ARP studs, it's got a huge torque curve and plenty of horsepower to spare. You also get a Moroso aluminum oil pan along with a Cobra oil pump, an 80mm Wilsons throttle body, Trick Flow timing gears, tensioner and chain, and a Crower Stage 3 cam, lifters, and valve train, so you can easily see that no expense was spared when building this drivetrain. Then it was all tuned to send big horsepower at the rear wheels and to produce a torque curve as flat as Kansas, and the presentation of the engine bay was perfected with those cool Trick Flow valve covers, a Victor Jr. aluminum manifold, an Edelbrock cold air intake system, BBK pulleys and long-tube headers. A sporty Zoom High-Performance clutch links it to the freshly built T-45 5-speed manual, and with 4.10 gears, 31 spline axles, a Moser spool and C-clip eliminator out back inside the freshly built 8.8-inch rear end, this pony rears up and moves when you prod it. The soundtrack is fantastic, with a throaty burble coming from 3-inch Mac X-pipe and cat-back exhaust that exits through the rear valance. Wild Rides S-box upper and lower control arms and manual rack-and-pinion steering system with a bump kit help plant the horsepower properly, and those 17-inch SR rims simply look spectacular wrapped in 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear performance tires.

Looking at the list of components, it's like buying all the good stuff from your favorite catalog and getting the car for free. But then again, Mustangs have always been about big power and small prices. Call today!
