Description

408 STROKER LS4 V8, AUTO, 4-WHEEL DISCS, PWR STEER/BRAKES, A/C, CUSTOM PAINT!!!

This 1972 Chevrolet C10 doesn't really count as a pickup truck anymore. Sure, it's got a cab and a bed and all that, but with a 408 cubic inch stroker motor under the hood, a show-quality interior, and an awesome satin paint job, it's more of a trophy magnet now.

It sure looks like Hugger Orange on this truck, treated to a satin topcoat to give it a very cool look that's both retro and cutting-edge. It's called the Orange Crate, and it's not difficult to figure out why. It was professionally built and was designed to have the look of a hot rod shop's delivery truck, so perfection wasn't necessarily the goal. But that's OK, because this one really excels at driving, and you're going to want to do a lot of that once you taste all that torque. The bodywork is almost completely stock and with these trucks, it's usually a good idea to leave things alone simply because they look awesome as-is. All the original emblems were shaved, the side lights are LEDs, and the grille is a replacement billet piece that gives the front end a clean, smooth look. The rear bumper has been replaced by a roll pan that cleanly highlights the big, bold CHEVROLET lettering on the tailgate. I suppose you could still haul stuff in the bed, although it looks just too pretty to risk damaging. But yes, if you have something you need moved with alacrity, this Chevy delivers.

The handsome interior is anchored by a set of tan leather buckets with custom inserts, which work surprisingly well in the vintage pickup's cab. Hugger Orange on the doors and dash ties it together, but strangely it isn't overwhelming and actually quite tasteful. Slightly darker carpets certainly help, as does the custom billet steering wheel and custom center console with armrest. Factory gauges are gone, replaced by a neat insert with white-faced dials from Omega Kustom, and an aftermarket A/C system has been neatly integrated into the dash with controls in the console. It's also got a potent AM/FM/CD stereo system that sounds great thanks to good sound insulation in the cab and a lot of hardware behind the seats. Tinted windows look cool and help keep things comfortable inside, too. Nice, right?

But this truck's real attraction is the thundering 408 cubic inch LS4 V8 under the hood. Topped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and Holley carburetor, it makes big horsepower so this truck feels like it weighs half as much. An MSD ignition system lights the fires and it's got a rather big cam inside, giving it a great rumble. The lightweight aluminum construction certainly helps, and we already know how durable these engines really are. It also includes a serpentine belt drive system, a big radiator and electric fan to keep it cool without worries, and it channels power to a rugged 12-bolt rear through a quick-shifting automatic gearbox. Custom headers for just this application feed a custom dual exhaust system with mellow mufflers that dump just under the roll pan in back and it sits exactly right, not too low, but low enough to look butch. Chrome 20-inch wheels totally fill the fenders and carry 255/40/20 front and 315/35/20 rear performance radials.

This truck is fast, but it's also well-sorted and easy to drive, and yes, if you need a pickup, it'll still pitch in and help now and then. Not many hobby vehicles can make that claim. Call today!
