Even today there probably aren't many 4-door sedans that can keep up with this incredible 2003 Mercury Marauder. Augmented with a rare Trilogy supercharger, it takes Ford's stealth ship to an entirely new level. With a neat installation and no visible modifications outside, this is one of the coolest late-model sleepers we've seen.

Most Marauders, like this one, were dressed in black and it seems to suit them just fine. This one has led a good life and despite it being 15 years old, it still has a commanding presence that seems to part traffic like the Red Sea. Its resemblance to a police cruiser probably doesn't hurt, but seeing this big, black sedan pull up in the rear-view mirror can make anyone uneasy. It isn't perfect, and a professional detailing would pay big dividends if you really want to step it up a notch. All the original trim and badges are intact so everyone will know what it is as it slips past in traffic, and few will notice the subtle S/C badges on the flanks that give a hint as to what's going on under the hood. Heck, this one hasn't even been lowered! It does have a few decals from Fastlane Motorsports (who installed the supercharger) but again, nobody will notice until it's entirely too late.

Black leather was standard in the Marauder and it shows incredibly well for the age and mileage. Everything Ford could think of was standard equipment, including power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, tilt steering column, and special white-faced gauges that were unique to the Marauder. The only transmission you could get in the Marauder was a quick-thinking 4-speed automatic, but it included buckets and a center console, which houses a pair of auxiliary gauges for the supercharger installation. As a full-sized sedan, there's plenty of room for everyone and given the horsepower on tap, the extra weight of passengers probably won't have any effect on the performance. This car is deceptively fast. And yes, you do get a giant trunk as part of the deal, making this one heck of a car for road trips when you need to get there in a hurry!

The Marauder packed a version of the Mustang Cobra's 4.6 liter DOHC V8 and cranked out more than 300 horsepower in stock form. They were bloody fast. But in case that's not enough this one packs a rather rare Trilogy supercharger, which was known as the neatest, cleanest installation for these cars. Looking every bit like an OEM installation, it gives the deep-breathing 4-valve V8 some serious oomph, both off the line and at the high end; you've probably not driven anything like it because something this big shouldn't be this fast. It starts and idles like a stock Marauder and the nearly silent supercharger doesn't advertise its presence like a lot of other blowers, adding to the stealth factor. There's also an upgraded alternator, Optima battery, and a custom exhaust system to make the most of the performance enhancements. The 4-speed automatic transmission snaps through the gears as fast as the needle spins around the tach and it's been fitted with a set of oversized vented and cross-drilled discs up front to manage the added horsepower. Factory polished wheels look great and carry fat 18-inch performance tires that do their best to hook it up.
